I am considering LogTen Pro for my iPhone, but our only other Mac product is an iPad. Do I have to synch my logbook from a mobile device to a desktop Mac to use all the functions? Are there formats of the log that I can export via email from the iPhone? Will I have to pay for the app again on our iPad if I want to use it on that device?

 

Logten pro says it requires Mac OS 10.7. I have a old MacBook that only supports 10.6 (can't be updated due the CPU), anyone have any experience using it on a older mac os? And also, any experiences pulling old Crewtrac records?

 

I have used Safelog for 5 years. I won't continue. Before my renewal is up, I am switching. I don't like being charged every 3 years for nominal upgrades.

I had a lot of flights that were similar, so I just totaled each type of flight up and imported it as one flight. This made it to where the 8710 printout was correct.

Example:

While instructing, you had 80 flights in a C172 that were day and had a takeoff and landing at the same airport. I made one entry for a random C172 tailnumber I already had, and made it X hours long and just logged 1 takeoff and landing. It seemed to work out ok. I started when I already had over 1600 hours, and I gave up on putting every flight in at about 300 hours.

 

LogbookPro will allow you to save a signature image file and will print a jeppesen format logbook with your signature on each page... Even better, you can print it to a PDF file. Twice a year I print as pdf several of the LBP reports along with the detailed Jepp style logbook. Using Adobe I combine the several files into one including a cover and table of contents. I email the file to my iPad and have my logbook with me if needed.
Just do it out if habit, I haven't job hunted in decades... and don't plan to.

But APDL and LogBookPro are top notch programs.

 

Myflightbook.com is free, has andriod and IOS apps, is web based, and allows for report generation based on almost any flight characteristic. It may not be the best looking interface, but it allows you to backup all your flight times electronically, add flights from your mobile device, and access your totals on the go. I have been happy with it. Did I mention it's free?

 

I realize this is beating a deceased horse, but apparently there's a market for that now. This is for those interested in transitioning from paper to the e-logbook and for anyone that has made the jump to the excel version of logbook, but wants to get to a better quality professional printing program.

I just converted from the airlinepilot e-logbook excel to the logbookPro in under an hour. They have an import wizard that lets you match column names to their variables, and it was relatively simple to get 2100 sorties worth of data imported.

Converting from the paper logbooks into just a straight excel spreadsheet (like the one posted on this website) was fairly easy with a lot of copy-paste maneuvers.

Or, if you're a rich airline pilot, and want to hand over money, they offer a $200 fee for taking your paper logbooks and manually inputting them for you.

For those that have a lot of spare time, but not so much money yet, the stepping stone approach of first to MS excel, then to logbookPro worked pretty easily.

The logbookPro also allows sync with iPad/iPod/iPhone via an iCloud that costs a nominal fee per month, but will also allow sync to your home PC. They have a free-trial version for 50 lines of data so you can try it first.

Want to make sure I have this straight: If I pay for logbook pro for my pc, and also download the free android app- you have to pay an annual fee for the cloud service in order to sync the two?

Is it possible to go old school and use a usb cable to connect to your pc to sync between the two?

 

Having both the iPhone and iPad doesn't do much good without a Mac at home or a laptop. It's very hard to print from the iPad or iPhone. You are not going to get the full function I'd LTP without having a computer.

 

Just got Logten Pro, awesome .. worth every penny.

 

If you can export as a CSV file from your android app, then you can definitely go old school. Just export the CSV file, email or transfer to you computer, then use the Import Wizard in Logbook Pro to match up the columns. Make sure you save your import template so you only have to set it up once. That's it! Very easy. I do this every month.
