Having been at NWA where we tried to keep the airline out of Chapt 11 by taking concessions in Nov of 2004, When the bankruptcy hit in summer of 2005 all that the concessions did was ensure that we had a double pay cut. But the management bonuses were really good! If you look at the numbers, management will do whatever they are going to do even if you are working for free.

Your carrier wasn't on the brink of Bankruptcy as PNCL seems to be.
The pilot group and the PNCL MEC has 2 choices. And 2 HARD CHOICES.
1. Take small concessions in work-rules, pay or contract sections in an effort to help the company reach their desired financial results.
OR
2. Take their chance in bankruptcy court and have a judge throw out your contract, your 401k match, unilaterally cut pay and most likely cut flying which would lead to MASS job losses.
I don't know if any of you guys look at your companies balance sheets, but it is CLEAR by indications of cashflow and expected costs that the company is in trouble. There is something deeper in the company that is not making money. There is no reason why they should be loosing $5 million per fiscal quarter. Q4 earnings results will show a bigger loss, I'm expecting.
You do not want to go to bankruptcy court with a company who is loosing that amount of money/per quarter against $1B in revenues. THINK.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT! XJET management played the same hits to us a few years ago, then took their pay cut (while simultaneously taking massive amounts of stock at $1 that were sold over $6 per share). FULL PAY TILL THE LAST DAY

I was looking at my Pinnacle AirMail folder and here are a few of the money wasting and ridiculous programs the company has created:
-"Introducing Pinnacle Points, Your New Rewards and Recognition Program!"
-"New Winter Items in Company Store" (Because the Colgan hats sold so well)
-"Save the Date - Holiday Parties" (Eventually nixed)
-"A Message From Sean Menke - The Benefits of One Culture" (Company gives pilot benefits to all employees)
-"Register now for our $10,000 weight-loss challenge!"
-"Ice Cream on Independence Day"
-"Your Company Store Opens Friday!"
-"Dispatch Scholarships Available for All Pinnacle Airlines Corp. Employees"
-"Recipe deadline!" (We are paying someone to collect submitted recipes!!)
-"Redbirds Extra Tickets and T-shirts!!!"
-"Request your Memphis In May BBQ Fest Wristbands NOW!"
These were just those under Menke's watch! How much has been spent on these programs and on staff to promote these programs? However, this one is my favorite AirMail
-"A Farewell to Phil"
The company had a going away party for Phil, along with a full catered brunch. How nice

Otherwise I agree with you on the ridiculous waste that goes on around here.

This had more to do with the shortage in dispatch than anything else. The turnover in dispatch is pretty high, and the company makes the scholarship recipients sign an agreement that they have to stay here for a while (two years I think). If they hadn't put the internals in the dispatch program in September we would have been very short on dispatchers when the Mesaba fence goes up in January.

How about we tune into the pilot all-call later today, stay informed as we get new information, and deal with this issue one step at a time.
(this is probably FAR to reasonable a suggestion for here, but what the hell. Flame away!)

I think the MEC will absolutely listen to the Pilot Group, however I don't think ANYTHING is crystal clear at this point. We don't have anywhere near the amount of information needed to make a proper decision. If the MEC decided a course of action based on rumor, supposition, and a few web-board posts I would be SERIOUSLY disappointed.
