Default Comair

Was in the process of hiring 300 pilots in June of '08. Then one conference call later all new hires were sent home and 300 more would be on the street in 6 months. Fast forward to today and another 400 will be leaving the property within 90 days.

I'm not trying to incite panic but all pilots should be prepared.

Why can't anyone on this forum ever post a question without being attacked? Its sad how much immaturity that still roams throughout. Like kids with Cooties

Thanks Johnso29.

Yes the 400 refers to Comair. Not sure how/where the confusion came from but the point was supposed to be A) prepare byupdating your resume and maybe start looking for other flying jobs and B) don't get caught up in the it can't happen to me.

To answer the op question AE's training is good. I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Good facilitys, tools, instructors for the most part are great. I've flown on demand, king airs and a citation of all the training I've had eagles was the best.

Yes AMR is bankrupt. No point in starting rumors that we are gonna lose 200 airplanes. As of now we are losing 12 atr's. Everyone don't freak out. We will shrink before we grow. IF we grow again.

The sim instruction was top of the time.

The ground was okay. The whole time I just felt like we were "going through the motions" to check a box. Even the Oral felt like a formality simply to do it. They told us word for word the questions and sure enough, that's what my oral was. All the safety exercises really were "okay, the FAA makes us do this so let's just get it over with."

I have no problem with self study, but the computer based study was terrible. Just read the AOM2 on your own, then use the animated systems at the academy and you should be good.

IOE instructors have been great instructors and mentors.

As with most large companies, I found there was a lot of hand not talking to the other hand.

The Chow, I wasnt "attacking" your post, I just misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were implying that eagle would lose 400. Sorry.... Back to your regularly scheduled thread....

Only 400? We have very optimistic people here. I didn't know 50 seaters were still in demand. I'm just looking at the other BK's and following those templates. This is how I formulate my opinion of the future here.
