I was there when the asa mec walked out. No matter, 2850 votes to your 1700 will make everything clear. And so we're all on the same page, any TA that degrades our quality of life including PBS will get shut down! The financial health of the company is the responsibility of management, not the pilots.
I'm with you, but what brought this post on? Where did the MEC walk out of?

Although saying we have "an embarrassment of a contract" might be a bit extreme...
Believe me it's nothing personal, in fact every time I see one of you guys at the airport I make it a point to say hello. It's the attitude that some of your lifers have, including some of the folks running your MEC. They are operating under the flawed perception that we have a hand at staying competitive beyond operational performance. Management has successfully indoctrinated many into thinking that if you have a top contract you end up like COMAIR. Well after two weeks (sometime ago) of comparing and contrasting our two contracts, I can tell you with certainty that now I understand why they'd like many of us to think that. Strictly in soft time, we average about 20% more money. There are a number of sections where it would be a step or two back for most of us. It's time to open our eyes and realize that whether you plan to stay here (combined company) or move on, we need improvements. Profitability is the responsibility of those who make 7 figures, not those who carry the operation day in and day out.

As far as the actions of your MEC, ask them what they believe should be the direction of the combined contract? That may answer a few questions....

Its in my original post as a quote. Xjet getting Eagle AC. Under cutting other Regionals for more flying. The only way Xjet is getting Eagle AC is by flying them cheaper. If Xjet was not flying them for cheaper they would not be getting them. Hence, flying someone else's AC for cheaper is CONTINUING THE RACE TO THE BOTTOM.

Is it just me that finds this obvious?

I was thinking "No way can he be using the Race To The Bottom line in this situation" Guess I was wrong.

No hard facts have even been presented that this aircraft exchange is true. Pump the breaks.

You are obviously labeling XJet as a bottom feeder airline, like GJ,by saying the airline was undercut. Give me a break dude. XJet has a pretty expensive contract so there is obviously a whole lot more to the situation than I'm sure you could ever comprehend. Xjet is not a cheap airline by any means and if the merger is allowing them to bid for flying more competitively then maybe AE should look into a merger like the rest of us. You know what happens when you ASSUME right? If Xjet was paying FO's $36 maxed out to fly 90 seat size airplanes you may have a point but not this time.

I know there are no hard facts. I was responding to a random post. It may not be true at all. If it becomes true, then yes it would be continuing the racae to the bottom. No need to pump the breaks. Thanks though.

Well thanks for the lesson. I didn't know that X-Jet was so inferior to Eagle.
Sarcasm.
