Got your sarcasm, not your point of view. Explain.

Its in my original post as a quote. Xjet getting Eagle AC. Under cutting other Regionals for more flying. The only way Xjet is getting Eagle AC is by flying them cheaper. If Xjet was not flying them for cheaper they would not be getting them. Hence, flying someone else's AC for cheaper is CONTINUING THE RACE TO THE BOTTOM.

Is it just me that finds this obvious?
Assuming that it's true that XJT is getting EGL aircraft (which I won't believe until I see it), it still wouldn't be a race to the bottom anyways since XJT has a better pilot contract. I can care less what the company charges its mainline partner to do that flying for them.

XJT isn't getting Eagle airplanes, they are getting back some of the 135s we parked in 2008 because United renegotiated the leases and they are now super cheap to fly even with $100 oil. You guys will believe anything you read.

I love how the asa guys refuse to admit that we have the better contract and that we should be using it as the base line for negotiation. Go ahead, continue defending that embarrassment of a contract, we'll just keep ours as is for the time being.

I was there when the asa mec walked out. No matter, 2850 votes to your 1700 will make everything clear. And so we're all on the same page, any TA that degrades our quality of life including PBS will get shut down! The financial health of the company is the responsibility of management, not the pilots.
You contract is better on a whole and needs to be a baseline for a jcba. All you have to do is talk to any reserve and they will show you all the holes in our Swiss cheese contract. There are many lifers now (say the majority of captains on the 700 and the top half of captains on the 200 for starters) and many have been brainwashed that the company needs to be "profitable" to succeed. Look at every update brad puts out and every time CT or SH opens their mouths. It's a constant barrage of "we need to be cost effective in everything we do ." remember how PBS would reduce our costs and allow us to gain new contracts?

My personal opinion of our MEC as a junior -200 FO on reserve (2008 hire) is they can be disconnected from the majority of our pilot group. Reserves are crapped on constantly, mous similar to the ACARS notification are signed in quietly and every time you call the scheduling hotline or talk to a rep you either don't get a reply or you hear a laundry list of excuses for the company.

You want to trim fat I ask ANYONE to go pass the Atech at 1130-1140am. I personally have 6 times in the past few months and you'll consistently see half of that building pile out early for their lunch hour. Start trimming the fat there then come back and talk to me.

If an airline with better pay due to a better contract gets awarded flying without crossing a picket line, its raising the bar not lowering it. Thanks tho. NO SARCASM.

I'm with you, but what brought this post on? Where did the MEC walk out of?

Although saying we have "an embarrassment of a contract" might be a bit extreme...

I'm still interested in the MEC walkout.

Somewhere on this site I read that XJET is supposed to be hiring 700 pilots this year. Somehow I don't think a few 135s coming back online will require that many pilots, so what will the rest be for?

Brad said in one of his updates about the possibility of getting more planes this year. Don't know if he was only talking about those 135s or what. That's all I've seen or heard.

Well, last year they hired over 400 pilots and we're still understaffed so maybe they figured it was time to step up their game!

Obviously they've something "about to be announced" but needed to get training up the speed, they hired thirty-something flight instructors last month, a bunch of new check airmen, new APDs, new ground instructors etc.

All those take a couple of months to get trained and ready to go and you've probably got to hire 100 pilots and upgrade 50 just to replace those new training center folks. It would make sense for new flying in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Add another 300 to correctly staff current flying and attrition that leaves 300 for new flying = 30 new planes.

5 planes already announced, 25 more to go.
