I'm with the crowd for re-claiming scope. Hold strong guys and give mainline managment a good reason to restore 100 seat flying to the majors, while we put the regionals back to where they where before the CRJ 200. Remember, then they where all small operators running small fleets of turboprops to destinations no greater than 1-2 hours from hub.

The benefit, more mainline jobs for those us seeking them and hopefully room for new airlines with mainline equipment to grow and replace the void created by the recent mergers.

Instead always talking about the buzzword "scope" and talking about fighting that. Futile battle. How about we try to fight for better pay and work rules at our Regionals so it can be bearable to make a career out of it. Regionals are here to stay. Scope ain't coming back.

I do not see the regionals going away completely, IMO. The mainline pilots want to get their flying back, as they should. I don't see those guys wanting to fly the aircraft we operate at the pay rates we fly them for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the mainline pilots have already said this. I definitely don't see mainline management agreeing to pay them more then what we are getting paid to fly them. So, what is the solution to this problem?

Because we're too worried about eroding pay and work rules at non-regionals.

Scope can "come back" if you negotiate it.

Comair did that fight, took it to a strike. We can see where that got them. Just taught management to spread their liability around. Only those that are selling the tickets can dictate who does the flying.

Greyhound or Amtrak.

You are right. I'm still holding on to my opinion that scope ain't coming back. It would require a massive route structure overhaul and massive business model overhaul. It just won't happen. That's why I said we should work on pay, work rules, and QOL at the regional level. But Zymurgist, using a good example, proved that argument wrong. So maybe the only way to make things better is a national seniority list.
