Whether that is true or not I have no idea.
Didn't know that Collins had gone out of business... wow... every B1900, King Air, 737-500, and lord knows who else operator is screwed. But I have to ask the question... what about them needs upgrading? I like them just the way they are. Also think about this... do you think Silver Airways would be taking on airframes if they were going to have to upgrade the avionics just after getting them on property? I think this is a bit too much hype... but Jesus knows I have been incorrect in my mental calculations in the past.

The ATL 900s will be on the move to JFK not DTW. And for those who think 9E is special because we got that BS re-dispatch op spec. ASA is working on it right now. This is nothing special to 9E. All it takes in $ to get that crap in your op specs.
But re-dispatching an F'ing RJ is stupid to begin with. On a 3 hour flight what do you save from the 10% maybe 300LBS?
Re-dispatching works and saves real gas on 8+ hour flights in large aircraft. Only 9E and Delta would come up with something as stupid as re-dispatching a regional jet.

But are the EFIS tubes in the 1900s, King Airs, and 737s the same model number of what's in the Saab? Not sure if it adds up either...not sure why Collins wouldn't want to still support a product that could potentially make them $$$ ? But then again, maybe it doesn't make financial "cents" for them to support it? Just spit balling...

King Air/1900 is EFIS 84 Saab 340 and I think the EMB 120 is the EFIS 86 I believe. Highly doubt there will be no more support for the EFIS 86. If they do decide to drop the support someone else will pick up the slack in the private market and make a profit on it. The only thing that really fails on these are the CRT tubes and the associated power supplies for them. CRT may become harder to come by but a retrofit will hardly cost 2 million an airplane. Take a look at Sandel's retrofits and you will see that it will hardly cost a quarter of that much.

I was just trying to establish the poin that if they discontinue support of one model they will probably discontinue all others which just doesn't make sense to me.... but I am up for hearing other opinions.

Even if they do it's not going to be 2 mil to retrofit.

I wonder if the PDA cancellation is an indicator of anything?
