The industry is in an interesting squeeze. Massive pilot retirements, new FAA rest rules, the ATP requirement, regional pay reaching its lowest acceptable limit for many, rising oil prices, consolidations, scope take back, and the desire for cheap tickets are causing strange manifestations. Every regional wants bigger planes to cover higher operating costs, but some markets don't have enough passengers to support the larger planes. Majors must pay regionals more money for the small markets if they want the feed. Those customers who want local airline service have to start paying more too.

But to remain somewhat on topic... 19 passenger flying... Somewhat of a dying breed IMO... Kinda like how we have drones doing things we used to have people do. Other aircraft as well as methods of transportation are simply taking its place.

I don't think it will ever be eliminated due to areas the bigger aircraft can't get into and runway lengths etc, but as you can see over recent years the need for them has been on the decline.

The "need" hasn't been on the decline, the ability to make money with them has!

Don't tell SWA/AirTran and US Airways that...all of those airports get mainline service.

Funny as I was writing that, I was thinking about that as well...I agree 100% with you.

eagle is rather diverse for an airline, most likely due to the SJU/executive side. We have a large amount of Hispanic, and a fair share of black and Asian pilots too, I would be willing to bet that it is on par to national demographic %s with an influx on the Hispanic side. When it comes to lady pilots we have some but I am not sure how we stand in relation to the % of ATPs that are woman.
