New Reg?

I didn't have many deductions, ie moving expenses, write offs ect... Basically, just union dues and miscellaneous items here and there. Fortunately, I've been a line holder right out of the gate.

Hi,
I have been out of the forum and recent news for couple years. What is this new law/reg that will take effect people are talking about on various threads? Are Regionals forced to increase the minimums? ATP is mandatory? How would this change the 1st year FO pay?
I am still flight instructing and have 3000 hours TT and only 20 in Multi. NO ATP. I Just can not live off $2000 month pay as I have a family. Is it good time to start looking at regionals? or should I stay put before investing in ATP and Multi time which I still lack.
Should I get the ATP now or wait and have airline such as Skywest pay for it...that is if they still do at that time.
Thanks!

Eventually they will require the ATP just to get hired, or at least until they run out of applicants...if you're going to go there do it know while they are paying for ATP's.
Unless you are satisfied with a career as a CFI, you will need to make some kind of jump to get your multi time so you can go either the airline or corporate route.

Well...now your timeline does not add up. The contract has not been out for an entire fiscal year. So how did you make 25.92? You started colgan last year right when the contract rates went into place? Your AGI should have been for the entire year. So you were making "old" Colgan first year rates and still made that? Something is a little off here.

I was mistaken, no idea what my AGI was, but my box 1 on my W2 was under 19K for the year of 2008.

What am i missing? Last year (my 4th as an FO) i made $49900 and flew 610 hours. I made 39K my second year and havent been under 40 since then. How bad is the pay/work rules at other places? Why would ppl put up with that? With our soft time our hourly rates are easily $30+ higher than advertised. Depending on where you go man, it doesn't have to be THAT bad.

First year at Colgan was $30,000. I spent $150 a month on average per month on food, so I took a lot of per diem to the bank. That being said, so far my year two pay checks are much less because there are less lines, less open time, and lower credit trips.

Perdiem is NOT PAY! If you want to eat PBandJ three times a day while at work, well, good for you. Just think how much you would make if you didn't eat while on a trip.

I prefer to eat real meals, and perdiem offsets the added cost of eating on the road. Period. Counting it as pay only plays into management's hand.

Do you work for a regional? Are you an FO (by Choice)? On reserve? 5 Years and counting for me and I might break 40K if I work my arse off.

Guy, we are talking about pilots here. Not sure what you were actually doing for Colgan but that's not a typical salary for any first year regional pilot.
