I understand where you all are coming from, but being a new-hire does not step on anyone's toes....at least according to the union. If it is, then the union needs to change the statement below.
Now if the they're released to strike and the new-hires (or anyone) crosses the picket line, the eff 'em. They're scabs. Until then, new-hires are not to be looked down upon.

I'd do it if I got paid $5K day 1 and could quit day 2 and not give the money back. That would be a good way to spend one of my vacation days this year.
However I have feeling I'd have to give the money back.......

Guys u need to post the name of the new hires that show up and we will add them to our nofly list for the jump seat and if you can video there faces and put them on YouTube that worked wonders for Spirit. Those to guys that flew that MD80 leg were scared to fly the leg back it went viral in two hours.
Why? Nobody has crossed any picket line, so they are free to apply and get hired at RAH. I really do hope you were sarcastic as MachJ asked.

right now we need the bar being raised, not dropped, I stand behind RAH, and I might just jot down the dates of when this all started and ended, and keep it in my head for a few years when I look at someones RAH ID and date of hire. We need to stand strong and work together to raise the bar of the industry. IF they can not hire, they will HAVE TO give them a contract. Heck you might even end up there later on under that good contract!

First, if RAH is your only job offer, you probably didn't apply anywhere else or you haven't heard back yet.
Second, that 5K bonus is pretty sketchy. Those of us here want to treat it as a violation of status quo, and the union is pursuing it. Also, applicants must factor in the "training contract" worth 15K.
Third, applicants should consider the atmosphere at this company is REALLY REALLY bitter right now. You probably don't want to be in this environment, on probation, with no contract in sight, the union itching to strike because the company wants to offer a few percent over our 2003 pay with NO WORK RULE changes and a company trying to fire employees for legitimate union business.
If we don't change our work rules, we will continue to be the worst in the "regional" or "national" industry for the next 5-10 years. RAH is suing the IBT right now because they are afraid of their ability to recruit pilots in the next few months/year. If their fears are founded, your value as an applicant, should increase over time (according to the lawsuit I'd expect less than 3 months).
I've whined about this before but I will hit my 6th year for pay longevity here at RAH. I will barely break 30K this year which equates to a Box-1 W2 wage of 23.8K with a small 401K contribution, just like last year. I'm still on reserve...
You will make more than me, probably in your first year but, very likely in your 2nd-3rd year at almost any other regional. While you're making more and enjoying a better QOL (I don't think anyone else has opened/closed/displaced into or out of 17 bases in 6 years), I'll be a 8+ year FO at Republic, possibly holding a line...
