Calling all FO's at ExpressJet. Reserve Rule
#1
So I was talking to the guy I was flying with last week and he brought up a good point. His point was that sometimes senior FO's forget or don't care about reserve rules. Whenever it is a contract comes up for vote, please don't ignore this part of the contact. Remember, when you upgrade, you will be on reserve again. I hope everyone takes this into consideration, but we all know most senior CA's don't care. So its up to us. We all know how horrible our reserve rules are. For example, being converted to short call 7 times from long-call is garbage. Not being pay protected for a line that carries over into a month of reserve, is garbage. 8 hours ready reserve and four hours of pay, garbage. Waiting an hour to be released, garbage. ERJ guys, insert the rules you don't like, garbage. You get the idea.

The ERJ side has better reserve rules but still needs improvement. I was on a RAH jumpseat the other day and they were explaining how they don't have junior manning OR ready reserve/ARC/airport reserve. Yup you read that right. That's something we should get.
Reserve should only be 12 hours not 15. Maximum 4 day blocks. Long call should never be allowed to be converted to short call.

Reserve rules need to be improved. I was the 2nd to last person to get a line on the 200 in April and I have been here right at 4 years. When the time comes to vote I am not going to screw myself or people below by not improving the rules. Bottom line for me, if reserve rules are not improved.......I will be voting NO

on the ERJ CBA - we have a 2 hour call out to show, then a 1 hour show to go time. Since we do not check in, we have 3 hours call to fly. That makes our 15 hours reserve down to 12. You are essentially released after 12 hours, if not used. Plus the auto release by noon/6pm on the last day is quite good too.
What we should improve on as the others have said, is the long call to short call. Moving days off, min days off.
All an all, ERJ reserve was not bad, and it will be a big fat no for me, if its gets worse.

Ready reserve for 8 hours six times a month is like punishment and therefore garbage! Having to call crew scheduling to be released after EVERY assignment as a reserve pilot, garbage!
Also while not specific to reserve, I'm not a fan of our electronic duty in. Several airlines have no such procedure and I would love if we got rid of it here.
