Call for release is the NUMBER ONE thing that must go. I shouldn't have to pay for their scheduling ineptitude. Long call to short call is garbage and as much as i would like to see our ready reserve pay change, it is based on our 2 - 1 duty reg so unfortunately i think those two go hand in hand.

ERJ does not have to call for release after a reserve assignment. Our only requirement, is to check our schedule 15 minutes after block in - no assignment released to either domicile, or days off.

Guys, while I understand a lot of the frustration with the reserve rules on both sides of the house, if you have concerns and would like to see areas of improvement, talking about it on here doesn't do a thing. This is a public forum, and management types DO read this stuff, believe it or not. Email your reps and the negotiating committee. Do NOT negotiate in public.

How is this negotiating in public? Who are we negotiating with? This is a forum like you said. From wiki, "An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages". This is a conversation about reserve. I for one have spoken to my reps and I'm sure others did to. We'll see if they are listening soon hopefully. If you don't like the topic, or don't want to participate, then don't comment troll.

[QUOTE=PeezDog;1163749]So I was talking to the guy I was flying with last week and he brought up a good point. His point was that sometimes senior FO's forget or don't care about reserve rules. Whenever it is a contract comes up for vote, please don't ignore this part of the contact. Remember, when you upgrade, you will be on reserve again. I hope everyone takes this into consideration, but we all know most senior CA's don't care.

Everyone should care regardless of seniority. Every line holder that is not being extended or junior manned is getting to leave on time and keep his or her day off because a reserve pilot is pulling the slack. The company maintains operational integrity because the reserves are out there covering things. Now I realize we won't get any help from the company. Far from it. Our scheduling is hostile to crews in general and reserves in particular. But I would hope we could get some support from those who will never again, and many who never have, sit reserve.

To the ExpressJet side, get ready for the ASA scheduling people to systematically exploit every possible loop hole in your contract and erode your QOL. Iron clad contract language is the only answer.

Troll? Yeah, because what I wrote was clearly flamebait.

What we should improve on as the others have said, is the long call to short call. Moving days off, min days off.

All an all, ERJ reserve was not bad, and it will be a big fat no for me, if its gets worse.
Wait, who is auto-released at noon?

The ERJ side has better reserve rules but still needs improvement. I was on a RAH jumpseat the other day and they were explaining how they don't have junior manning OR ready reserve/ARC/airport reserve. Yup you read that right. That's something we should get.

Reserve should only be 12 hours not 15. Maximum 4 day blocks. Long call should never be allowed to be converted to short call.
We (XJT) don't have junior manning either. When scheduling calls you on a day off you tell them in your politest voice to kindly go **** themselves. And voila... no junior manning! Only weak suckers go to work against their will.

XJT side:

Yup, don't answer your phone on your day off, or say you are not available.
ARC (Ready reserve) was 4 hours for 4 hours of pay. Also couldn't get ARC more than 4 or 5 times a month?... don't remember the exact number. Also couldn't have ARC on your last day I don't think.

If not used by 6pm on your last day of reserve for that block you were released to go home.

Aggressive pickup window was the one thing I would like to have seen changed. I wish we could have just grabbed it out of open time without having to call in. And if you happened to get unlucky and get the scheduler at 8:59am, "Oh sorry the window opens at 9:00am, please call back". Ugh.

I can't remember some of the other rules... it was awhile ago. What I am envious about is that new hires now are saying they're off reserve in like 4-5 months??? Man... that is nothing compared to the 3+ years some of us spent on reserve.
