XJT side:
Yup, don't answer your phone on your day off, or say you are not available.
ARC (Ready reserve) was 4 hours for 4 hours of pay. Also couldn't get ARC more than 4 or 5 times a month?... don't remember the exact number. Also couldn't have ARC on your last day I don't think.
If not used by 6pm on your last day of reserve for that block you were released to go home.
Aggressive pickup window was the one thing I would like to have seen changed. I wish we could have just grabbed it out of open time without having to call in. And if you happened to get unlucky and get the scheduler at 8:59am, "Oh sorry the window opens at 9:00am, please call back". Ugh.
I can't remember some of the other rules... it was awhile ago. What I am envious about is that new hires now are saying they're off reserve in like 4-5 months??? Man... that is nothing compared to the 3+ years some of us spent on reserve.

Five days per month is the max per the contract I'm pretty sure, and you also can't be assigned ARC on consecutive days.
I've developed a good technique for calling for aggressive pickup, but don't want to share as it has worked so well lately
. I'm on my third month of short call, and unless something strange happens (again) I should be at least long call if not hold a relief line this month. So assuming a relief line = off reserve, I've got a good shot at only being on reserve three months. I was really hoping the bid packet would be out today so I could get an idea, but maybe tomorrow.

You are correct. You can't be assigned ARC on your last day unless you volunteer for it (I've tried that several times so I could have a shot at going home early, but it's never worked. You just are not very useful to scheduling with only one day of availability).

Don't do it. I left XJT for a charter gig and look forward to when I can get back to 121. Ever since I left I have such little control over my schedule.
135 regs only require you to have 12 hard days per quarter. Or something similar... maybe 14 days per quarter. It is such crap. Even the months that I had 8-10 days off, I was still on call, so it's not like you can go anywhere... ugh. I know I am starting to sound like a broken record, so let me say that there are some good things from 135/91... I just miss jump seating and hard days off.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent.
