Every day i read another post confirming why we will never have PBS on the ERJ side of the house. Cue the CRJ guy that will respond: "its the pairings not the bidding system" lol give me a break.

Jetblast do us all a favor and stop flaming the PBS vs line bidding argument. That's been beaten dead in other threads. You want to start that up again go on the crackpipe or go back to the PBS thread. This thread is for reserves and those being affected by it to talk about the issues at hand and what can be done to improve it.

Reserve runs deep at ASA, 4 years from DOH on the 200 and I'm sure 4.5 for some on 700 in Atlanta. The system isn't designed for this and needs to be fixed.

The may bids are another example of this company wiping their collective behinds with us and the union refusing to do anything about it. Clearly the union Isnt concerned with the april 27th recall. Why don't the number of lines to active pilots in Atlanta match up? Why the abundance of 7 leg days? Why why are we making everyone in Dulles fly 100 hours? Don't worry, CT says we have a good balance of staffing that should allow us to"meet our summer demands without sacrificing quality of life for our crew members.". Any bets on when the next it doesn't matter how we got here email comes out?

I can see your point. But what you're neglecting to address is the mantra that PBS creates MORE line holders, less reserve pilots, etc. So yeah, I agree, it's the pairing generator that skews it. But my above point STILL applies

Well ain't that a freaking coincidence, it can go pretty deep on the ERJ side too!!!!!! For CA's, it can be 7+ years in IAH/CLE, and 6+ for ORD.

We were sold a load of crap that PBS would create 10% reserve coverage. It's constantly near 20% with the high side some months being nothing short of insulting.

Also I stand corrected I didn't realize your left seat reserve times were that long. All the more reason we need to stay on topic and voice our concerns to our reps and at the recall later this month

Fair enough. But I STILL stand by my statement. The PBS faithful love love love to rant on and on about how great PBS is. Not just for schedule, but because it creates LESS reserve pilots. I'll take you word for it that it's not the case. But it just helps to solidify the point that not only NO, but hell to the NO will the ERJ side subject ourselves to the existing PBS system and language. We ALL read the same crap and message boards, it gets beat to death everywhere. I'd rather it just drag out on the JCBA than accept anything LESS than what the ERJ side has now.

Reserve sucks, but under ERJ reserve rules it sucks less, way less than CRJ reserve rules. And I'm fine with the line holder rules as well.

Preach it brother! I stand by what I said earlier: EVERY legacy ASA pilot (hell, SKYW too for that matter) needs to read our contract. Life CAN be better guys and gals. Don't let your MEC/senior pilots sell you out. Anything less than our current CONCESSIONARY contract gets a HELL NO from this XJT bubba.

Well, in CT's defense, ,if the line divisor (or whatever you guys call it) is 100 hours, then you won't be sacrificing any quality of life, since your all flying the legal max anyway!

All joking aside.. I feel for you guys with whats coming by the looks of it, and the reserves especially! (Coming from a 5.25 year LXJT reserve puke)

Yea that's exactly what I am getting at. Every month it goes up!

On top of the number of reserves increasing and the number of line holders decreasing, there are, again, 8 training captains on the ATL CRJ FO list for May.

As far as the original topic is concerned, why can't we bid for the days off that we want instead of the 'Golden Days' shoved down our throats? We have the WORST reserve lines to bid for, and I actually WANT to work weekends, but will end up with 3 weekends off and a terrible QOL because our lines suck so badly.

Pbs isn't the real problem. PBS could work and could afford pilots a decent QOL while saving the company money. The problem lies in the work rules of a new system. A new set of rules with loopholes, unintended consequences, and new ways for management to blindly "misinterpret" the contract. We, the pilots, lose little by little with these interpretations and have no effective way of standing our ground. The grievance and arbitration process is a complete joke.

When you weigh the two options in the mind of a legacy xjt guy you have option A our current contract which isn't perfect but it is a known evil with past precedence and option B a PBS system which does have potential but we know management doesn't play fair. We have no way to effectively fix a misinterpretation. Waiting a year for an arbitrator to tell the company that it blatantly violated our contract is great but we just got raped for that year. A whole new system with a whole lot of raping until they learn and we define the rules 4 years after we sign this contract.
