Hey, all FO's have smart phones. You don't need no stinking' Internet connection!

The Regionals were NEVER meant to be a career stop, but it's morphed into that situation. Why is there 15 and 20 yr payscales at some of the Regionals and NEVER at the Majors (except Fredex). It's because the lifers who are entrenched in your MEC's and Negotiating comittees are running the show and tossing the Jr Fo's under the bus to enrich thier career decisions. I won't even go into how many of the lifers are stuck there due to lack of a degree, credit ratings, dui's and checkride bust's. So, they get stuck at the regional and try and make it as best for them as they can...because the CAN'T/WON'T move on.

You guys want to make your industry more stable and a better QOL? Vote the Sr. guys OFF the MEC's and Neg commitees. Stop your payscales at yr 8 or 10, max vacation 2 weeks. Take no company match in 401k's. Make your Company as Cheap to run as possible. GET IN GET OUT.

For any RJ FO that's been sitting around the last 5 years waiting on an upgrade and PIC time....you are fooling yourself and screwing up your career. If you continue to wait for it, rather than making it happen you are going to miss the next hiring wave, or be at the end of it and be perpetually JR the rest of your career....which will result in a frustrating career of reserve and narrow body equipment. QUIT now! Go Expat to ANY turbine PIC job you can find. Go to India, fly turbo props...Africa, Japan, China...wherever. I'm not saying go to Emerites to sit in the right seat for 3-4 years....Go find a LEFT seat job, they are out there. Do it for a year to 18 mos and then come back here to a Major. The guys you are pulling gear for now will still be at the Regional they are now. They will still be miserable and they will still be looking for a way to throw YOU under the bus for more $$$.
Quote from ERdude32 in the Gulfstream thread,

"Soooo, back to the venerable 1900. I actually miss the flying, all hands on and fun. Nothing like being at 9000' abeam the numbers in the downwind at MIA and being cleared for a visual and "can you keep it short?"....most fun you can legally have in 121 ops., or cranking it in over the Boca Chica channel at 400' keeping clear of NAS Key West airspace and rolling out lined up with 27 at Key West.... Or how about....awe it was all good. I like my gig in the 767 now, but if they'd pay me the same to fly the 1900 and be home every night I'd be in heaven. "

Ba Ha Ha! So says the Gulfstream Captain? Which is it ERdud?

it's funny how many people think someone who has been at a regional for more than 8 years must have check ride busts, no degree, dui's etc. I'll put the flying skills and resume of the lifers I fly with up against your resume any day. And how the heck are we gonna upgrade (or even get qualified as FO) if there is nobody senior enough with enough time on the plane to actually give quality OE/Sim instruction? I sure as heck wouldn't want a 2 year CA with 3000 TT giving me IOE and check rides.....but keep living in your barbie fantasy land! Always gotta blame someone for your problems......its never your fault.....

In summary, it is not the 10-15% of senior lifers on a seniority list bringing the industry down, it is guys like you willing to sell your soul and work for peanuts, take shortcuts and even PFT or pay to fly at GIA like you did that are bringing it down.

ZING!!! right on Trip. Blame the senior guys for the crappy industry, even though he took a PFT (pay to fly passengers more like it) at GIA.....and openly says he'd be happy as a senior CA on a 1900 for really really good pay, hogging that CA seat....hypocritical, no? Definition of "me" generation.

You gotta take it easy bro, I can see you running down the aisle now. Take a deep breath, then push the seatbelt sign on and feel important again.

I would pay pretty good money to be on the jumpseat of an airplane with a 3 year guy in the left seat and a 25 year guy in the right seat with the "Captain" telling the "FO" how that flight is going to go and how the tone in the cockpit will be.

Yea, that's a pretty low-ball attack to the senior regional lifers. It's almost as if he's calling them losers. I know a few guys with 10+ years at the regionals. A lot are just content with their position and there's nothing wrong with that. Many of them have families, mortgages, kids in college, etc etc. Why go to a major with "big jets" to fly for half of what they are currently making. On reserve. Commuting to New York!
