Applying to Regionals

You've given me lots to think about. I'm still checking the aviation job websites daily as well as applying to the bigger regional airlines(Skywest, AMerican Eagle etc.). FlexJet and the like require more hours than my husband has....but I will still apply. Who knows? We live in a large metropolitan area with tons of flying opportunity so I just need to push him to get out there and make himself known to everyone. He does have a great personality but is on the shy side when it comes to making NEW aquaintances. He's very smart and knows his stuff when it comes to flying. I'm confident that someday he'll be where he wants. I don't believe that he would be happy doing anything else but flying. I'm ready to suffer through. That's what we've been doing for a while now!
I really appreciate everyone's input.

Just a thought...depending on where you live there may be a regional that is close to home. With the time that you are talking about you hubby having then that would be the easiest to get into, especially if $$$$ is not the concern. What city do you live in? I flew corporate for years and one thing is that there maybe quite a few more companies that you just don't hear about but they are right there at you local airport. Because corporate (135) is so small Quite a number of operators dont advertize, its all word of mouth and referals through brokers. Companies such as Flexjet have taken private flying to a higher level, but that higher level brings higher prices. There maybe a number of options under your nose....... Maybe I can help if you let me know what city your in.
Good luck

This is a little late for the thread, but I would go the corp. route to start with. I work for a regional and love it. I do it for the flying. I fly someone else's 35million dollar jet because I can't afford my own, and they pay me.
Your husband is prime for either choice. His times are good. Do not worry about the SIC sim time. The only people who care if your multi time is PIC are the ones looking for Turbine PIC. Check any regional web site. You never see a MULTI PIC section, just Multi time. Good luck.

These are all good points. One thing to consider is a smaller regional other than Skywest, Eagle, or some of the other larger carriers. Reason being, a faster upgrade=smaller amount of time spent at regional. Most people will agree a regional is a regional no matter the size. They know that they are a stepping stone and treat their pilots that way accordingly.
