yes furlough fodder. but here is the catch, a lot of dumbo's believe better on furlough from AA than employed at AE. Even if they are furloughed for 10 years. I.Q. of eagle pilots registers at the bottom of the scale.

If someone is able to secure reasonable contract work during furlough, it would not be a bad deal at all. Of course, a person can not count on it or plan for it. But with the combined effect of all the working conditions that eagle management is proposing I think I would prefer other jobs (especially contract) while on furlough rather than work at eagle.

so let see,
capitulate at eagle as pilots,
get stapled at AA on bottom,
get furloughed from said bottom,
get contract job while on furlough,
come back from furlough after five or more years,
be at the bottom on reserve again crash padding.

hey sounds like a real plan.

I'd 100% rather be furloughed at AA working at my local Home Depot than flying for garbage wages and work rules at AE.

You would rather make minimum wage actually working for a living putting up with idiots rather than making 23 an hour closing the cockpit door and only putting up with one idiot? I don't get it.....

However, barring a catastrophic event, I do believe that a pilot has the upper hand over the next 10 to 15 years for sure. It's started already, albeit very slowly, but still, I can see things happening now.

And commuting half way across the country missing most of my family's lives, don't forget that very real downside to this job.

Also because you're only getting paid ~80 a month you have to cut your hourly wage in half to figure out what you're making at a normal job. Most big box stores offer good opportunities for advancement and competitive benefits packages, there really is no reason to work for a regional other than the hope that eventually you'll move on.

So yes, I'd rather sleep in my own bed every night making the same amount I do now.

I must be fortunate to be young and single because not having to commute and being able to live in base is the ONLY reason im putting up with the brown sandwich the regionals feed us.

When LAX was a base my life was 100% better I know where you're coming from.

As to when I'm leaving, hopefully soon provided I don't bomb the interview at compass. I've thought about leaving the industry but I'm still young enough to change careers, I feel I'd really kick myself if I didn't give it sufficient time to move on.
