Eagle to hire 600+ in 2013!

I still don't understand why they need pilots if they are parking planes, closing bases and only a handfull of guys are flowing to AA. Can someone explain what exactly is going on here?

Should you get the boot out of DFW to keep your captains seat in the future , what's YOUR plan to avoid commuting ?

LAX pilots are commuting now,
ORD, 1/3 are commuting now and by end of year that would be half and increasing.
DFW, all the former crj pilots are commuting now, and the displaced emb's from the ejt presence will be commting.
MIA and NYC has all the SJU pilots commuting and all the new hires.
So, actually these days it appears unless something big happens to change this, at least half all the pilots at eagle will be commuters, thats about 1400 pilots.
So a commute at AA would be LGA/MIA not much different than it is at eagle now.
my two cents.

It's a virtual certainty that once whipsawing and PBS are in full swing, the days of $100,000+ RJ captains will be over at any AA feeder.

that just begins the cycle of BK's again at mainlines. Why pay hire rates when I can fly them for cheaper at regionals will be managements cry. 5 years, the cycle which is airline management 102, file bk bring mainline rates down then force regionals to do the same. then the cycle begins again.
when the mainline pilots understand this, they will team up with there respective feeder pilots union and present a unified front to mainline and regional management. then and only then will the pilots start to get some control back. For now it is all a blurred image.
the 100K rj jobs will still be here, just a small number of them. the rest sold out for a quick ride to mainline and will get shafted in the end. Lets see in two years from now how many ae pilots will get the opportunity flow to aa.
why tell the new pilots that ae is not a place to come because there is no company business plan for eagle nor is there a fleet plan here at eagle as of yet, because that is true. Also beacuse these are the same types who get here a cry for senior pilots to get out so they can upgrade to build PIC time to go to mainline. There mother must have told them that. the way to force people is by voting in continously concessionary contracts making the person who choses to stay at a regional there life difficult because there are different goals trying to be met by the different factions at a regional. just as it has been happening at eagle for 10 years. this place is as dysfuntional as you can get, more so than any other regional.
just an observation.

On the fleet plan: they told us today the reason it has not been released now is because of the merger. It was ready to be released before but now it's being reviewed by USair because they need to be part of the process now. They said it will likely still go through as is, but one of the things they are reviewing is the ability to staff it. Supposedly it is a big order.( This is just what they said. I have no idea if it is true or not.. And I am highly skeptical myself.) Just passing along the information from the conference call. Another thing is our day in court is next Tuesday to fight the Republic aircraft deal. 3 unions involved and they have made presentations to the unsecured creditor committee already.
Also, they said hiring was doing better.. I think he said the last 2 classes they hired for were full.
