I know plenty of guys that do not have a degree that would be great pilots to have on our seniority list. I also know just as many guys with degrees that I would question the sanity of any interview panel that hired them. All of these PNCL guys without degrees could knock out an online degree in the next 12 months just to check the box if they needed to, but would that make them a better Delta pilot?

It seems to me that this is more about feeling shafted that some of us had to get degrees and take risks in our careers to get to Delta, now there will be some that get in without doing what we had to do. I'm almost 100% certain that if theyse guys have to go through the same interview "process" that we did, the one's who we don't want won't get in, with or without a degree.

PG, there are about 10 white dots behind the +1.

NO.

Because they have the right to do anything they want, assuming it doesn't violate our contract or a contract they've made with someone else, or the law. And I've yet to have anyone show me the PWA provision that sets hiring standards.

There is this btw:

11. The Company will fill a minimum of 35% of the aggregate of all positions in Delta pilot 20 new-hire classes in each trailing twelve-month period (to the extent airmen are available) 21 with ALPA-represented airmen at Delta Connection Carriers, subject to such airmen 22 meeting the Company’s competitive hiring standards, and subject to the Company’s 23 objectives for diversity and experience among newly hired pilots. Airmen who flow up 24 pursuant to LOA #9 and LOA #10 count toward satisfaction of such minimum 25 percentage.

If you're 737 and you did it this morning with a guy with an accent that is different than the normal southern one, than you did it with a good buddy of mine.

What I'm saying PG is what Delta minimum hiring requirements have we ever had an issue with? So much so it would cause us to negotiate with them on it? I don't see anything wrong with their standards.

But it looks like with Pinnacle's MEC negotiating directly with the company, without DALPA present, decided they did. So they negotiated or worked out a deal on those published hiring minimums to make sure they don't apply to them like they did to you or me.

Agree - that is one of those PWA thingies that they'd have to honor, or we would have a rightful grievance. Of course, this raises an interesting question. Is 9E a "Delta Connection Carrier"?

I hear ya. But my point is, if it was important to us, we should have negotiated it. Just because Delta didn't do something previously, doesn't mean they don't have the right to do it in the future....unless we negotiate to the contrary.

This is the same thing with respect to RJ flying. When I got hired (a LONG LONG time ago), our PWA said pilots on the Delta Seniority List would fly any airplane OVER 70 seats. We COULD have said any aircraft over 49 seats. But we didn't. And the rest.....is history.
