Things have changed and the NWA system is just as screwed up as ever, but I don't regret one second the decision to come to Pinnacle.

Reserve time is a bit longer, but our outlook is considerably better than TSA's. Our scope protection specifically prevents such a thing from happen and it is a strike item in negotiations now.
80kts: How easy is it to hold MSP as a juniour FO? If I go w/ PNCL, I'd like to be based at MSP.... Ofcourse, I'll take whatever they give me - but as part of my wishlist, MSP is deff on it.... even if I have to spend a couple months in other bases.

Also, do you think upgrade time will stay the way it is with the new CA class they opened and us new FOs coming on the line?

You said PNCL is tough working for but not regretting any minute of it. May ask why is it tough? And how do you keep happy after 3 years? (I'm sure CA pay has something to do with it ;-))

What's a typical month look like for you? Is it possible to work hard begining of the month (with respect to the law ofcourse) and maybe be able to bid consecutive days off at the end of it? (I understand that typa thing is primary based on seniority)

If you don't mind me asking, what are the travel benefits (non-reving and jumpseating privilges) and what i'm mainly interested is mainline stuff?.... International jumpseat privilges? do they exist? (I've got family overseas that i'd like to be able to go see every now and then)

Again - FOR TSA:

How long do you have to hold reserve in RIC? Is upgrade time about 3 years or is it more now days?

How likely am I to find my self choosing TSA, showing up for class and be told to go join GoJets because TSA's class is canceled?

Questions above for PNCL could also be addressed by TSA people. I'd appreciate the input.

I was able to get MSP a month after OE. Plan on going to DTW first before getting MSP.

It's starting to look like you'll be sitting reserve for quite a while if you choose the RIC base - we're terribly understaffed here. I'm currently sitting hotel reserve out here along with another FO, and we're most definitely not the first guys to be doing this out here. Our November class is all getting shipped out to RIC, and they've been told it'll be a couple of months before they can make it to STL.
As far as the switcheroo, it won't happen. End of story.

[QUOTE=schone;81997]80kts: How easy is it to hold MSP as a juniour FO?

Base Seniority for FOs:

1 MEM
2 MSP
3 DTW

The current FO Class:

20% MEM
30% MSP
50% DTW

The previous class were mostly assigned DTW.

As I'm sure you are aware, seniority (within a class) is decided by whether you are already a company employee and then by age.

Should you not get your preferred base, you currently have a good chance of getting it by the time you are done with OE or soon thereafter. However, I'm not sure if that will continue to be true now that more and more new hires are being assigned DTW.

Word is that there is a new hire FO class starting Nov 20 and classes are supposed to continue thereafter. Of course this could all change depending on what happens with Northwest.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Captain upgrades right now were hired in Dec 03, so just under 3 year upgrade. The chief pilot talked to the nov class on friday, and said they're hoping to have classes every month next year, somewhere between 10 and 20 every month. So if you take the TSA job, you won't be at the bottom of the list forever. Especially when you consider they're are only somewhere between 250 or 300 FO's.

They're also saying two or three months in RIC before coming back to STL. In the grand scheme of things, thats not too long.

As stated earlier,at TSA the switcharoo thing isn't going to be happening as far as any of us can tell. They are planning on hiring for the remainder of the year and continuing with classes well through next year with about 25 per class.

Upgrades are still looking in the 3 year range, but you're required to have 3200 hrs to upgrade, so if you're low time, you'll be waiting on gettin ur hours more than getting the years. never flown the CRJ, but i've been told it's a little less automated than the jungle counterpart.

TSA is also looking at picking up some additional flying, possibly going to mexico, not sure for who yet, but our dispatchers got all their paperwork setup for it now, and hulas is a little ****ed about all the money he lost after managemnet was stupid and forloughed pilots earlier this year, so i don't think he'll be doing that again anytime in the near future.

Hey there- I dont want to step on any toes but the class that just got done with checkrides (mine) was ALL assigned DTW to start off. We all got the vacancy rewards for Jan that gives us all of our first choice bases. So itll suck for a month or so, but the fact remains that everyone still seems to get their first choice hub out of training. I was also the lowest seniority number and still got a base other than DTW. Their were (I believe) 7 guys in my class that wanted MSP, all got it. Hope it helps.

Hi Higney,

The base assignments I was referring to were for the most recent class (Oct 30). Sorry to hear ALL your class was assigned DTW but good to hear you'll soon get what you wanted. Congrats on passing your checkride and good luck with OE.

Right now the time to hold a line in RIC is zero months. The bid packet is out and there are NO reserve lines for FOs there. Oh, and there's only 1 build-up line. 50 hard lines, 0 reserve, 1 build-up.

As far as your second question, if you look at what I just wrote you'll se that they are desperately short of pilots so I don't see the old go-jet bait and switch happening again for a while
