Don't kid yourself; there are plenty of qualified pilots; those with at least ATP Mins. Many have even exited aviation but could quite conceiveably return if the regionals ever got real with the wages. Pilots just aren't going for the bonus deal, at least as it currently exists. $5K ain't even close to doing it... The industry is about due for a shake up and this situation just might do the trick.

How long before the bonus is 20K? Those that just took the 5K lose out on the extra 5K? If they raised it once they will probably keep raising it, I'd hold out a little longer.

This thread needs to be killed before it gets out of hand like all other Eagle threads. Why post a thread about something that is not remotely true.

I can start rumors too. Eagle offers 15,000 Signing bonus, then when you finish training you go right into upgrade training and get another 15,000 for completing training, and then you go right to 18 year Capt. Pay.

If you're that bored that you need to start rumors, lace up your shoes got for a run... It might actually do your brain some good.

If you had a choice between $5000 extra in bonus or 2-3 months of seniority which would you choose?

Too bad second, third, and fourth (etc) year pay is just more of the same: chump change -- woefully inadequate and stunningly far from professional compensation.

I do understand, all too well, that the same goes for my employer, too. Believe me, I will take the first real chance I get to get out of the regional airlines.

There is no pilot shortage. There are plenty of qualified pilots looking for real work. The problem is that no one can afford the never-increasing playtime pay offered by the regionals. Unless the regionals are prepared to offer professional compensation from day one, their days are numbered due to lack of staffing.

The days of having 500+ RJs operating for mainline are over but there will always be regionals, the RJs will just get bigger as you are seeing it with Delta and United.

And soon the new American! One of the AE chief pilots said to me when he was commuting, "Where Delta leads, the others will follow."

I am pretty certain that if a company was so desperate and would pay an additional $5k on top of an already $5k they would update their website IMMEDIATELY to get every pilot they could. And that hasn't happened.

Still says $5k. American Eagle - Careers :: Pilots
