Carry over from another thread for those spectating, but you will always get creamed in negotiations when you set yourself up from the beginning as completely unwilling and unable to walk away. syd111 knows this of course, but is trying to justify nuking the profession back to the stone age to protect one's seniority list, and he is ignoring that I placed a significant share of the blame on all pilot groups, including my own, so he can play helpless victim of circumstance.

The travel bureau at Expressjet says this does not apply to us (yet).

I'm no CPA, but I fail to see how it's even possible to quantify $7 million in NRSA travel. Are those administrative costs like they used to claim from the old "Write Your Own" program? Doubtful since nearly everything is paperless and requires no work on a CS agent's part to activate you or anything else. Is that what it costs to carry NRSA's around? Again, doubtful. My guess is that someone took an amount, in this case $20 domestic and $50 INTL and multiplied that by an average number of NRSA's carried in a year and came up with the $7 million figure. So to me, it appears to be more of a way to make money they would otherwise not opposed to money they're losing.

So for the sake of argument, I'll bite on the $7 mil figure. What is going to happen next year when people find another way to work or to take vacations and they don't make $7 mil off NRSA travel. Raise the segment fee? Yearly opt-in amount?

Lots of people didn't list even before the talk of being charged. Would be nice to have a better idea of how the flights look before you make the trip to the airport or terminal. I realize sometimes you don't have time, but there are a lot of guys who just don't do it ever.

So I take it that the pay to commute scheme is real? (it seemed recently someone was refuting this or still hadn't gotten official notification.)

Received a memo here at SkyWest that United was taking 60 days to "re-evaluate" their pay-per-segment scheme. Don't know if that is for all United Express carriers, all Inc. companies, or just SkyWest Airlines...

As per our SOP, TSA has said absolutely nothing about any of this.

It's crazy, 5 months into 2013 and we haven't enrolled for this year yet. I need to swap and drop some of my peeps by July.

It still amazes me the outrage over this, or maybe I'm just used to my company hating its employees.

Update from the company telling us United changed their mind about the fees.
