The trade in has already been negotiated in the new CPA Skywest Inc got when they bought ExpressJet in 2010. First right of refusal on 75 replacements and 15 growth aircraft.

They don't give these aircraft away. They either lease them to the regional or just have a lower reimburse rate for operating the aircraft on their behalf.

Semantics, but CAL had the leases on the planes.

True. Since Jeffrey, and Jeffery's way of business is basically how UAL is run.

Depending on how the subleases are negotiated, the leverage that UAL will have on whoever they lease them to will be pretty large. Not unlike what CAL did in 2007 with XJT. Only it's doubtful that there will be a "sure, you can keep the planes, just can't do X,Y, or Z with them......."

SkyWest has a mix of aircraft they lease themselves and major-leased hulls. Probably going to XJT though because they have so many 50 seaters, although I hear the 145 wins the efficiency game so maybe...

Default Republic

Just spoke with an old friend from Republic who is in management and he indicated that these planes will be split up between the Shuttle and Chautauqua certificates. He could/would not tell me any of the specifics but pointed out that Republic has been operating this A/C type for some time with knowledgeable crews, maintenance personal, and better on time performance. It will be interesting to see where the aircraft actually end up.
