Yeah with regionals it doesn't matter... When I got hired, they didn't ask.. And I work for the highest paying RJ operator. I guess it just depends.

Now, when they generated my PCSM score, I was happy to stamp my 3.7 college GPA all over that..

in regards to education...

Does anyone know if an Associates will get me anywhere towards getting on with a Major?

Better than nothing, but I'll tell you now, it's required for DL.. While not required at UA/CAL, I can guarantee you they haven't hired a non-bachelors degree applicant in a LONG time..

I'm pretty sure Jb and spirit have hired noncollege grads though.

If the app asks for it, you should fill it in and take your chances. Leaving it blank looks like you didn't read the instructions or have something to hide.

Obvious attempt at flamebait, but I'll bite anyhow. I'd rather have a C- student who is an awesome pilot than a washed up geezer in a double breasted coat who can't talk on the radio, asks for 5 wind checks on final, deviates around puffy clouds on the downwind (yet punches TRW+ enroute because he can't use radar properly), then lectures everyone how superior he is.

It depends. Conventional wisdom is that you can get called if they don't require a bachelor AND you have excellent connections...but that would still rule out most or all of of the legacies.

But without the connections you probably won't get hired off the street, there are just too many other solid applicants who have all the tickets punched.

Exception MIGHT be SWA, I've heard they'll hire people off the street with an AA but the only person I know who got on there with an AA did in fact have good connections.

If you have the time, best to punch the ticket somehow. It makes far more financial sense to knock it out before you need it then to wait until the hiring window opens and wast a couple years doing "recon by fire" only to find that you need the degree after all and then waste another 3-4 years scrambling to get it done. You just lost 5-6 years of major airline seniority and pay...compare that to the cost of an online degree.

What type of degree do you have? Do you have a History degree or Chemical Engineering degree? This would make difference. Plus I would say that 25% of regional pilots don't even have a degree at all. This should not be a issue at the regional level but beyond that, you are going to need to tell them what you have learned from this.

It's hard balancing out women and college.

I was that C- high school student. I fly your family around all the time, they love it. And I almost always bring them back safely.
