Yep. There was dude when I was an IP at Columbus who hooked 4 rides but somehow kept through. I flew an Eval with him to check him out as an F-16 IP years later... Cat was a total stud on the ride. He ended up being an Aggressor pilot at Nellis and got on at DL back in 07...

No offense, but 4 or more checkride busts should be permanent ban on airline flying. Passengers deserve better than someone who just isn't as serious or cut out for this flying business. I can understand a bad day, that's why 1 is fine. 2 even. Maybe 3. But 4? That's a negative pattern.

Swampfox, were you referring to Mil checks? I definitely think the annual natops checks I did was tougher than a check ride, but I know a guy who has failed 3 faa checkrides with someone who didn't even have a really bad rep for failures and for that kind of thing I do agree with shyguy... Enjoy your 91 flying, but if you wig out in stress, don't risk others.

Yeah they were mil checks in UPT. Little easier than the criteria for the NATOPS.

Every circumstance is difference, but I do agree with both you and shy.. 3-4 FAA check fails is pretty bad considering the relative ease of the material and how well laid out the curriculum is.

What about the pilot with 3 failures but has a CFI, CFII, MEI, commercial multi/single, and every other rating, that is subject to a check ride. Vs the pilot with 2 failures and just a commercial multi going to jet U or Gulfstream. I have three but have taken 10 checkrides in my life. I know GS guys with 2 busts who have only taken 3. (prvt, inst, multi commercial)

There's just no excuse for 3 FAA checkride failures. I've had 13 certificate/rating rides plus all the usual recurrent checks and 0 busts.

I guess you have never been through a crappy training program or had an FAA examiner asking questions about things that are not in your systems manuals.
