I get a different impression of this letter. It is solidly, factually, based. His strategy seems to be somewhat like his (and Delta's approach) to bankruptcy, live to fight another day.

I respect your opinion BB. So what is your opinion when one pilot group negotiates jobs away from another pilot group in the same union and offers nothing in return?

Finally, the downward pressure on wages at the regionals seems to display a complete repudiation of a "pilot shortage." Read the actions of the industry, not the flowery language, and you won't be confused. Oh, and like someone else said here, follow the dollars and you won't be confused.

What's the worry about foreign airlines operating in the USA? How many airlines in the world pay less than what regional pilots get paid? So regional pilots need to help protect the higher paid pilots at majors. Thoughts?

What Moak has been a part of will open the door for overseas carriers to "codeshare" with "regionals" like SkyWest to "feed their 380's going into the JFK's, ATL's and LAX's. You will see the demise of the American owned airlines as the smaller ones who've been kicked around by Delta and their willing cohort, ALPA National. These carriers gladly severe ties with the likes of Delta and US Airways and begin flying their E170-195's along with larger planes for the Ethiad's and Emirate's in a "code share" feed for the overseas carriers and the American flagged carriers will wither away.

Well, but these large carriers don't have slots to spare for the regionals. Most of the regionals don't own those slots. So is SKW going to build a network out of JFK and LAX? I mean they currently feed United and such. But will they build a network to compete with United out of those airports. It's not as easy as it sounds!

Emirates can't fly point to point. SkyWest Inc can just as Republic can. I'm pretty sure with the sort of cash getting tossed around, they can find their way. They wouldn't' need to buy their way in. Flying under Emirates' colors or Ethiad's..... Certainly not easy but plausible.
