Questions:


1. For a 4 year college graduate - should poverty level even be a part
of the coversation? 2013 average college 4-year degree graduates
is stated at................................................ ....45,000 $ per year

2. For a 4 year college graduate + additional schooling such as a
master degree, dental school, law school, pharmacy, accounting
or aviation, where additional income (example 25,000$) above and
beyond a 4 year college graduate average pay for 2013 (45,000$)
is added to it (example 45,000 $ + 25,000 $ = 70,000$), should
poverty level even be a part of the conversation?

3. For a 4 year college graduate + additional school + 6-8 months of
travel time on the road (extensive travel time, per diem, etc
can easily add to 15,000 $ per year) can equal to the following:
45,000-4 year degree +25,000 additional schooling +15,000 travel pay
which equals to a grand total of............................85,000 $. For
this scenario should poverty level even be a part of the converstaion?



For all 3 scenarios (1-3), Poverty Level should not even be a conversation topic or any party of the scenario. But is is our industry of
aviation !

Hmm. Not sure this thread is gonna live to see another day.

I want to play because I would like for you to know how miserable it is for me, but then I'll be depressed and feel really dumb when someone with my same longevity from XJT or Skywest shares their percentage.

And... If anyone really cares, they can look up all the pay rates on APC.

This question might work better as a poll.

 

300% on 2nd year FO pay. I doubt anyone on here is below 100% unless they're a single dad with 4 kids at great lakes.

 

I told you I'd be depressed. 150% 10 year FO family of 4

 

Unless you're at Horizon why are you a 10 year FO? I assume you could have upgraded by now?

 

10 yr FOs are becoming fairly common.

 

I'll start off by saying that I agree, poverty level should not be a part of the conversation. Overall starting pay in every section of this industry is too low. However, $85,000 is not reasonable. Neither is $50,000 - but it's a lot closer. The lower starting pay is truly offset by the higher earning potential. Additionally, $85,000 is alot to pay to an unproven commodity. Unfortunately, the seniority system of virtually every airline will keep it the same for a long time.
