On my interview...the only thing they really "looked at" in my logbook was to make sure my times added up correctly and that I was IFR current on my last flight containing actual time. It depends on the carrier...but I definately would not open the door for a "So if you can't add your logbook correctly, how do I know you'll do _________ right??" kind of question.

Thats idiotic. A cash register reciept and your logbook are totally different. People make errors counting change all the time and it adds up over the course of the day. Your logbook is your professional record. If it doesn't add up, then it raises ALL kinds of flags from did this guy fudge his numbers to how much attention does this guy pay to details. There was one girl at my XJT interview who was let go within 20 minutes because of "logbook issues". At the very least make sure your SE+ME=TT and your day+night=TT. All it takes is a line item change when you find and correct the error.

Do most people's logbooks have a day category. There's a section for day and night landings, but you would only put night down you don't put anything down that would indicate it was day flying. I guess I would think that it's assumed if your not logging it as night it was day!

On a side note.....

Has anyone every used LogBook Pro? I am thinking about getting the airline edition with a palm pilot so I can keep track of all my shi*t.

Is it worth it? How well does it work with keeping up with the 121 time regs?

Thanks!

it's a good program. you just have to stay ontop of it. I have one logbook in it. and one that isn't. Once you get behind you never catch up until you have to

Yeah, that's the point of buying a palm pilot along with it. I will have no excuse on long flights I'm the type who will put it off for 300 hours, and spend four days straight logging it all in. I need to change that.......

That what I do now. Except I waited till my last logbook was done. Put it in. Haven't touched it since.

I am on log book #3 now. There is some error somewhere from book #1 where TT is 2.2 lower than ASEL+ASES+AMEL. I'm pretty sure it goes way back to my private pilot days, but I am having the worst time finding it. I did find an error in log #2, Used the last line of the page to make a note which corrected the time and made reference to the page where the error was found.

I would definintely find your error. At bare minimum it shows that you have pride in yourself and way too much time on your hands, proving that you need to dedicate your spare time to xyz company..., sir.

I have about 10 years of logbook entries to catch up on. I have my little shirt-pocket logs plus company records, so it's just a matter of sitting down with pen and adding machine BUT...I'm on logbook #4, it's getting a bit cumbersome and the original 2 are over 20 years old, getting fragile. There are corrections and my handwriting isn't that great.

I'm thinking about entering everything into an electonic logbook. I keep all my other records that way, so it makes sense.

My question is, will the electronic log be acceptable in an interview situation? I've been continuously employed by 121 airlines for 22 years, so I don't think my total time will be be called into question.

I've known several people that use e-logbooks and I've never heard of anyone having a problem with an electronic log book, especially if you were employed when you logged the time. As long as it is neat and adds up correctly, most places I know of don't care how you keep your records.
