That's a nice letter. FACT that flying has been losing money for years now, its their attempt to spin the situation in their favor. This is just like when United cancel its planned houston to aukland service because of the Southwest hobby is getting a customs. Nevermind that the current flight data shows that the 787 couldn't even really make that route.

First I feel for the employee's who will be directly impacted with bases closing etc (pilots, ramp, Flight attendants).
However, in my opinion I am happy to see some of the regional excessive feed being reduced. Doesn't this present an opportunity for leverage for pilots and also allow the possibility of mainline having to look at adding new aircraft?
I hope RAH can use this as leverage to obtain a contract soon.

I'm not sure if the thousands number is correct, but I have heard from many people on this forum that RJET has a reputation for having a very high failure rate (between 40%-60%) in their interviews? Now, I completely understand trying to keep the bar high in the quality of pilots they are hiring, but this seems excessively high.
On one hand BB is saying they can't find pilots, and on the other they have one of the highest interview washout rates? Can anybody reconcile this?

"Regional airline replaces old undesireable aircraft with new better ones in collaboration with mainline partners"
Although this headline is not very self serving. Good to drum up fear when trying to negotiate contracts and repeal laws.

Let's make no mistake. We do not want the "1500 hour rule" repealed! This is the only leverage we have left to improve our pay and working conditions. Just like the American Medical Association controls access to medical schools, our industry needs to take control of the incoming pilot stream, and limit it. If you're a current airline pilot, the 1500 rule is a good thing.
Agreed..............

Cleveland flying is not going away, just being shifted to other hubs. This could be the reason for rumors of two or three RFPs for 145 flying out there..

When I do the math, that works out to about 1000 pilots on the street.
Unless I am simply misiniformed about the status of those 140 50 seaters, that sounds more like a short term glut of pilots , rather than a shortage. (when they start parking them)

With the 145s exiting, are they going to shift the displaced crews to the incoming 170s coming online to cover for the lack of hiring into these new airplanes? This could be a temporary fix. I know there is talk about expanding the hanger in SDF to shift some 170 maintenance there.
Getting my popcorn!
I haven't seen any updates on contract negotiations. Are we still in the "cooling off" period?

Correct me if I am mistaken, but isn't Pinnacle(Endeavor) parking all 140 CRJ's this year or next while only taking 40 larger CRJ's as replacements?
