Quick question on SkyWest
When I first found this forum I found people saying pretty much only good things about SkyWest. Now suddenly they seem to be getting alot of hatred.
They just got a pay raise with a differential for the bigger planes and I believe their workrules are considered among the best.
Why is there so much sudden hate toward SkyWest?

I'm just a CFI, so I know nothing about the industry aside from what I read here and in other forums. So let me see if I get this straight... Skywest + no union = sucky company; airline with union = good airline. Therefore: Mesa, American Eagle, Expressjet (all unionized) are good. Skywest (no union) is bad.
Is this how it works? I mean from what I read, the quality of life for pilots and the company's future will improve as soon as ALPA comes on. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Their first year pay is worse than Colgan! Their second year pay is average where Colgans is still terrible.
SkyWest pilots need ALPA to protect them. I'm not saying it will happen but it can- If SkyWest management wanted to, they could easily turn that airline into Mesa Jr.
They constantly win RFPs...which is great, but better companies like Air Wiskey are left in the crapper because they refuse to fly for such shytty rates.
