Well, I feel bad for all you guys trying to finish your training. Imagine that guy who had his checkride scheduled for next week. Man that sucks!

Thanks CWU...at least SOMEONE KNOWS RESPECT! Uncle Bose...it doesnt matter if anyone was killed! So a tornado detroys your house...yet you and your family are fine...should we joke about that? I dont think so.

On a side note, Cessna is very cooperative with Riddle. Last year after a hail storm..they had reps out there the next day helping all the planes get back to airworthy standard. Piper not soo much...took a little longer. Haha.

On the comment about hangars, you cant hangar close to 100 planes! And the one hangar we did have (maintenance) was completely destroyed. There were other planes on the field..does anyone know if they were damaged?? It seams like it was a pretty narrow path...i can see pics of other planes on the ramp that dont even look touched!

But hey, the good news is that the flight suits are unharmed...the legacy continues!!! I just hope the leather jackets are ok...otherwise, what will they wear in the summer.

Who's joking? I'm dead serious when I say "now thousands of current and prospective students have a compelling reason to choose another college, and will possibly be saved a $180K price tag."
Someone's house isn't comparable to a ripoff institution. Try again.

Sure you can. UND does it every night (I know- I worked on the line as a student... It took 2 tugs about 3 hours to do it each day and 3 hours in the morning. Less if there were more people/tugs.)

You can hangar a large GA fleet if you have the facilities and the resources to do so. ERAU just chose not to, and as a result they are now paying the price for it. UND has to- otherwise aircraft wouldn't start when the temps were down near zero Fahrenheit (or colder).

UND Aerospace Airport facility:

Note the 8 hangars (Barn, Center, North, NorthEast, Washbay, South, MX, and West)

I think before they figured they would take their chances. Only recently has the lack of hangers seem to be hurting them. I bet now they are really looking into housing them all.

NE,

Sure- and UND definitely has a greater need in the grand scope of things. Between the low temps and strong winds in the winter (I've personally seen up to 100 knots sustained during a blizzard- enough to rotate an empty 727 onto its tail), and the thunderstorms/hail/tornadoes in the summer, DAB is more aircraft friendly on the average bad weather day (aside from the salt/corrosion issues).

I was simply pointing out that it's not impossible to hangar a large fleet daily Last I heard there were about 85 aircraft based in GFK, that's more than ERAU has at DAB from what I've seen in the press.

Losing a fleet like Riddle did sucks. It sucks, regardless of who's aircraft they are... The ERAU higher ups just need to evaluate the odds and determine if the risk/chances of a similar event are worth spending the money on proper hangars that can survive such events.

I've never known anyone to get a leg-up because of going there. I don't know of anyone that got a real leg-up because of any flight school. The worst student I've ever had came from there. i've had around 35 of them. The best were guys that weren't even involved in aviation. Aviation degree is complete BS. There is nothing you can't teach yourself by reading. All the aviation knowledge you need is in the FAR/AIM ect. Paying top dollar for it is a waste. Thinking you are going somewhere anyfaster because of where you went is crazy.

Question though. UND does it at the end of the day? Is that correct? Even if they did have UND's facilities (which I must admit look nice)...you cant hangar the planes for every storm that roles through...or else Florida would be a no fly zone. I hear ya though on the need for hangars in the winter. You guys really get that high of winds? Dang! At my outfit....planes wouldnt start worth a damn if it were not for the heated hangars!

And Bose yeah I will compare. What about peoples jobs? Thats funny to joke around about?
