Health insurance and your regional?

AWAC insurance is probably the best part of our contract. You have the option of a PPO BCBS or an HMO I think. They recently added some garbage HSA thing too because they really can't stand the fact that we have great insurance and want to get people on that. The HMO is the one that only costs about $15 to have a kid (or so I've heard,) but you need to make sure you are in network. Otherwise you're paying full price. I just had a kid with the PPO and the total was around $500 dollars. That was with an extra night stay in the hospital. Given the fact that my neighbors (not in the airline industry) had to pay close to $2000 to have their kid, I have no complaints. For the PPO, with coverage on my wife, myself, and our daughter it's around $215 per check.

Forgot to add we have PPO dental, which currently I'm paying for my wife and I that's about $7 per check. Zero deductible, that goes for our health insurance as well, with a 10% coinsurance. $1250 per person maximum per year. The the vision plan which is about $6 per paycheck for the 2 of us. That one is more complicated but basically you can get either contacts or glasses each year for free or at least pretty cheap. Bottom line, people tend to focus a lot on hourly rates, which AWAC offers some of the highest of anyway, and not enough on insurance. This insurance is spelled out in the contract, so they can't drop it or make drastic changes overnight.
