Nice insult, I guess?

The fact is, you don't know the facts. And neither do I. That's my point. How do you know who's "more qualified"? Are you HR? You know exactly what companies are looking for in their employees? Do you know everyone's backgrounds, training histories, extra curriculars, internal recs? You say you speak for so many people, so I can expect you to know all this right?

Say what you want, but don't pretend to speak for thousands of people you don't know, citing information you don't have.

that tells me everything I need to know about how green you are and the kind of Koolaid you are drinking... There was a time, not too long ago with PILOTS HIRED PILOTS... not HR.. HR used to be called "Personnel" and the cut paychecks and helps with your 401K.. Pilots who ACTUALLY had to fly with you evaluated your skills (sim check), and technical knowledge, as well as your personality before hiring you.. not some 30 year old HR bureaucrat with 0 aviation experience.

I'll be happy to talk to you by telephone about the details which are not appropriate to post on a public forum... I'm sure if we were to meet in person you'd realize just how out of you league you are.. you probably started flying a couple of years ago, and now you see yourself an expert on this industry. Talk to me in person and lets see what you really know. PM Me you phone, or if you prefer I'll PM mine and you can call with your ID blocked if that makes you more comfortable...

BTW, I edited my post to be more clear and added "man" incase you are a man, which I very much doubt.

Now you're contradicting yourself. You complained about certain pilots not getting called, even for a chance at interviewing. Who determines who gets called again, before the pilots conduct the interviews/technical? Think carefully.....(Hint: it's HR). Perhaps you should move on from what was done in "a time not too long ago" and accept reality.

I understand you're upset someone is challenging you on the internet, but try to at least be consistent with your argument.

that's the whole POINT of this debate! I'm NOT contradicting myself, just venting about the new style hiring practices which lead to the kind of thing we have been discussing... women with inferior resume getting called ahead of men. If you don't believe this is happening, and happening as a result of HR taking over hiring from pilots, then we have nothing more to discuss. If on the other hand you agree that it is happening and you're happy with it, we also then have nothing further to discuss. Keep it safe and professional in the end, and hope you never have to fly in Africa in a DC10 after coming up in "TV" screen airplanes and flying in radar airspace.. (giving you the illusion that you're an amazing airman)

Can't speak for mainline, but the recent regional interviews I've been on each had 2 male CA's for the 1 HR person on the 3 person interview panels. Only 1 female HR person in multiple interviews, no female pilots.

No one ever "has" to fly in Africa. That is strictly a willingness on the part of any person.

Stop with the drama.

Guys laugh at guys who try to use their level of experience as a crutch during a discussion. What special power do you have that we should know of? If you have past knowledge present it. Let us decide if it applies in today's world.

And no, airlines can't hire whomever they want. They've been sued before and operate so as to avoid lawsuits.

You edited your post because you know you sounded like an (uneducated person) and it showed your true colors. You could be the oldest most senior crusty pilot in the free world and I would still tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about.

But it's simple. If I'm wrong, feel free to post your evidence that less qualified minorities are being hired over more qualified white males. Also include instances where less qualified white males are hired over more qualified white males, because you must have that info as well since you care so deeply about the subject. Finally I will need quotes, written documents or official practices from (whoever you feel) is in charge of hiring that shows that race/gender/other minorities are receiving special treatment in the hiring process, and that white males are getting the shaft.

I like to keep an open mind. I will gladly recant if you can provide this evidence you claim to have acquired over your 25+ years in the industry.
