Two wrongs don't make for right... we're past all this history and should just hire based on resume. Especially in a safety critical job field like this.
I've known a lot of women pilots including a recent ex girlfriend who all want to be hired and seen as equals.. not special cases. I doesn't do service to the highly qualified to be over looked, nor does it do a service to the women being hired with high qualifications that everyone just ASSumes they're under qualified or have a poor resume/failed checkrides.

There's lots of stuff to put on a resume besides flying time. Also plenty of ways to handle an interview... And with airlines doing personality tests and other weird crap before they even talk to you, there's no one way to tell who is more "qualified" at all airlines.

Just saw an ad for Airbus Captains in China. They are taking ERJ-145/CRJ and other type rated US pilots and paying to train them on the Airbus, then pay them $20K per year. As of 3? years ago, to fly in China you needed to be a Captain, type-rated on the specific equipment. Now you don't...they even started hiring expat FOs two years ago...

I would consider 20% of those pilots at the regionals are lifers, with probably another 10% of unhireable(dui's, age, driving record, no degree, etc). Also, of the 10k of apps on file you have the same (cfis with 200 hours and other low time guys, unhireables, convictions and more).
Just like say the police department, there will always be a 10/1 ratio of applications to positions available, but a high percentage of individuals aren't qualified for various reasons.
I doubt there will be a major shortage, but there should be a nice movement the next 10 years.

Who exactly are you speaking for? Sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions on your own.

Airlines are private entities, as such they can pretty much hire whomever they want. If you aren't getting the nod, it might be your attitude. Nothing in life is guaranteed nor equal, get over it, now get back to that right seat of your RJ and F/O the krap out of it.

So you speak for all white males who can't get hired... who have all apparently "gotten over the history" (like there was anything for white males to get over)... It's amazing that you know the personalities, qualifications and backgrounds of every white male in the industry..
Maybe try just speaking for yourself from now on.

but on the topic, attitude is huge, but nobody knows your attitude until they talk to you, and many aren't getting the call who are more qualifeid than certain "minorities and women" that's the point.. agree or disagree, it's a fact.

Maybe you too are an industry veteran and have a different point of view, in which case.. touche... otherwise just remember this is the internet and everything on here is in the end somebodies subjective point of view.
