Because a guy like him is already competitive at places like Spirit and JetBlue and even legacies IMO, he just needs a few months of recency of experience.

I actually enjoy flying jets much more than turboprops. Will the majors value turboprop time as much as jet time?

Great advice from a previous poster about looking more at the company. I suppose since I'm so close to Newark, it would had been an obvious choice if all other things were equal. LGA is double the commute... Not looking to relocate out of this area. I'm hoping between JFK, LGA, and EWR, there has to be some good opportunity for at least a couple of years.

FaceBiter: No, did not go to ATP

SkyPilotsV84 / Smackfun: I have turboprop time and a lot of multi-engine helicopter time, but not a lot of jet time. I just really enjoy flying the jet over the turboprop...

Goto awac. I'll drive to PHL over lga or jfk any day if I lived near ewr. Awac has some uncertainties regarding their future but it looks like you're just trying to get in and then getting out.

The only jet regionals in EWR are Shuttle America and ExpressJet. ExpressJet isn't hiring as of mid-June. This may change based on attrition and fleet plan updates. If you're gonna interview at Republic, you have to wind up on the Shuttle side as that is who has the EWR base. The Republic side is Q400 out of EWR.

Flying a turboprop at a 121 airline is about the closest thing you can get to fun in this business. Can someone explain to me what is so much fun about churning along at FL350 for 3 hrs on a "regional" flight just to do a 40 mile straight in ILS and click off the autopilot at 200 feet?

On second thought....

Last thing those guys at C5 need is another entitled FO whining about how he doesn't have an APU and how awesome gojets is. Right @Tallflyer?

Because eventually the fun wears off after years of slugging it around in the weather on 4-6 leg days.

You guys are brutal....

Who cares if he wants to fly a jet? He already said he has tprop time.

You are all so quick to criticize someone you don't know anything about.

Just answer his question or ignore it.

Newsflash, getting bumped around the whole day in the teens with no APU for the turns gets old really, really fast.

Doing 10 leg days also gets old.

Passengers have basically zero respect for your plane. Yep gets old fast.

Not sure why turboprop guys take it so personally. Let it go.

Nobody does 10 leg days and you certainly aren't going to get any more respect in an RJ by your passengers.
