Headset

Regarding the UFlyMike.......it looks as if once the microphone piece is attached, the headset can only be worn one way. i.e. once the microphone boom is connected you can't flip the headphones around to the other ear, and the mic boom doesn't swivel/pivot 180°
In other words, once connected, the microphone has to be situated on your left hand side no matter what. Is that correct?

Another vote for Clarity Aloft's. Extremely light and comfortable, especially on long days, and very quiet. Their customer service is top notch as well.
I can only think of 2 drawbacks; 1: Lack of a rotating mic makes it a little more difficult to move the mic out of the way while you eat/drink. 2: Despite a previous post, they are a little pricey.
Now, having said that, I got mine at seriously reduced price, used. Knowing what I know now, I would not think twice about purchasing them brand new, if necessary.
Regarding TSO: Strangely enough the TSO'd version has terrible NAV/COM bleed over on the equipment I fly. The non-TSO'd version works better and costs $200 less.

This is correct. The UFM comes with a clip. I've used it as both a captain and an FO. In both cases, I just clip the cord to my left epaulet. It's got plenty of slack, and once it's clipped, you won't notice it.
Most captain's don't use the clip, but I can't speak for FOs.

Putting in another vote for Clarity Aloft. They're quiet, light, and comfortable to wear on long days. The ear pieces need to be replaced every month or so, but depending on how often you change them, you could be spending less on the ear pieces than on batteries for an ANR headset.
