The real 9 used to do that route all the time. Other example dtw-fnt, dtw- LAN etc.

Why should regional lifers be rewarded for their career failure at the expense of those just entering the industry?
So a pilot flying a RJ is not a real job?

That's the second half of the problem here - people say regional airlines are a stepping stone. Why? Are you not a professional pilot flying an airplane with passengers around? How is it a career failure for the economy, 9/11, etc? Or maybe you like the job that you're at, and don't want to leave.

I bet you think we should just run 777's on all routes, since that's a real job I'm sure.

Two schools of thought. One believes that regionals shouldn't exist at all, or if they must exist then its up and out. The other school believes its a place where one can make a career. Obviously you are in the latter group, but according to a recent poll on the site, you are in the minority.

A regional is akin to minor league baseball. It's just an entry level step to get some experience to see if you are qualified for a shot at the majors. The quality candidates eventually move on. The rest are left behind to sulk and come up with every conceivable excuse as to why they're lifers. The lifers stop the progression for the new entrants and create a top-heavy cost structure. The money pie at the regionals is only so big and continually shrinking. The lifers get an unfair cut which means poverty wages for newbies. It's time to trim the costs associated with the lifers. A pay cap accomplishes that and will push many to finally leave the industry.

The 320 does that route all the time, currently.

How can you justify an "Up or Out" mentality at the regionals when there hasn't been any meaningful or sustained hiring at the Majors in the better part of a decade......

Why don't you do some research on the last 12 years in this industry, because you obviously haven't lived it.

Someone in your seat?
