I will disclose everything, but will the fact that it was illegal drugs not alcohol be more of an issue?

Umm you're not even in the same category as the other guy (no disrespect intended toward the other pilot). Apply, tell your story in the interview, get hired.
Done.
Done.

How about a speeding ticket? It happened about 6-7 years ago, it is not listed in my driving record and I can't find any record of it. I have told the hr person at the airline I am going to. Is there a specific driving record to ask for where it would be listed? It is just easier to report on an app with a date and place.
I hope I will not be shown the door for not listing a specific date.

So, my advice is to disclose any and all no matter how long ago it was. They will run a background check that will go back as far as your first offense. Have a really good explanation and take responsibility for what you did and also how it has changed your life for the better.

I disclosed a speeding ticket I got 17 years ago for doing over 120 in a 50 zone and caught by a police officer on foot in a foreign country. The ticket doesn't show on my driving record. He stopped me by stepping out in front of my car and pointing to the side of the road.
It made for a good interview story.

All traffic tickets even if it doesn't show on your dmv driving record.

Yes I realize majors have hired people with blemished pasts, nobody is perfect. I agree with you, as time passes it could be different. The majors have a huge depth of candidates that are well qualified. The desperation level hasn't been reached for major airlines yet, may in 15-20 years that changes.

Try an EFL class they are out there and they can help you remove the EHs from your diction.

Dude stepped out in front of you doing 120? Did he have a wheelbarrow to hall his giant balls out into the road with him!?
