What's the deal with us airways crj200s? I was told the lease ends in 2015, but it's up to AWAC if they want to extend the agreement. How long can they extend it? Also a recruiter told me the crj200 actually don't have a set life limit on them, unlike the 700/900 which is limited by the wing spar. Any truth to that?

Haha, you guys are funny. Yes, the IT guys get notice of an awarded RFP before the entire rest of the world knows. Delta really really really really likes their websites to be prepared...
Delta CEO: "Congrats AWAC on the 500 new airplanes you're going to be flying! Now someone get me IT on the phone so we can get the delay website updated!"

Health Insurance question for AWAC guys? I set through the presentation on Health Care at the interview but wanted to ask what your experience was on the actual cost and the value of the benefit. My wife’s open enrollment closes shortly and we will need to decide which way to go before I start class in December. Anyone have the time to give us some insurance highlights? I called benefits this afternoon hopefully I will hear back from them tomorrow.

I've heard the 5+ trips of OE as well. Ridiculous.
What bothered me the most was during the last couple years the sim schedule was such that new hires would complete most of their training and the need an additional sim or two (not always by fault of their own).
No big deal... except that they were then sent home for several weeks until they could be re-scheduled. After a few weeks they would be given their extra sim and then a check ride. The recency in the sim, or lack thereof was the doom of too many.
As a new hire, I doubt too many of us without 121 experience would be able to nearly complete the training and then take 3 weeks off and then still pass a check-ride.

Those that washout have spit themselves out...training dept basically gives them every chance to shine. The level of experience of candidates has declined almost precipitously. Hopefully this required ATP ground school that most airlines are going to run, including AWAC, will provide the prep that these NHs need.
One of my referrals (previous 135 and a lot of hours and experience) was sent home after, wait for it, FIVE WEEKS between here extra sessions. So yeah its totally normal to think a new hire after being home for over a month is going to come back and successful do a 121 type ride after 2 sessions.
I'm not going to argue with you that the quality of candidates is not what it was, but a lot of the washouts absolutely are, without a doubt, being lost in the system. One of them was my referral and I was helping this person out every step of the way from first day of Indoc until the BS phone call asking for a resignation. FIVE WEEKS. From other people I have helped along the process I know of many others who have been sent home for, on average, 2 weeks.
My roommate had similar issues, however, what helped him was the fact that the department UNDERSTOOD he was right there. They sent him home for 2 days and found sim time and got him in for a successful checkride.
To be completely honest I don't recommend anyone to come here unelss they are ex Cape Air or Lakes. Its really ******ty to type that, but its the truth. I have just heard of way too many competent people get jerekd around and let go to no fault of their own.
This post is not directed at those who are clearly not cut out for this, but for those that are on the brink, but get lost.

This is one of the best benefits of AWAC. I paid in roughly $5000 last year, and the company paid in $16000ish towards my plan. We are a self-insured company meaning AWAC pays for all health expense up to a pre-determined number.
Welcome aboard! Its a great company and sounding like good things to come!
