Because that's exactly what gets people in to trouble in the first place. Don't come here anticipating the 2 year upgrade because that can change in a heartbeat. Come here because we probably have the highest FO pay in the industry. Per the contract, it needs to be 60% of captain pay (witht he exception of first year), hence the reason we have FO's at almost $50 /hour. I still think the FO pay needs to come up drastically, I'd say 2nd year pay of $40.xx whatever it is, needs to be the new industry norm first year.

Let's look at what the difference in the pay is:

Say you work at regional airline "X" for 3 years as a FO, and then 8 years as a CA. I think that should be about the worst regional career that anyone should be expected to work in the next decade or so. If it is longer than that, you did something wrong.

Average Pay for that 11 years at a regional (3 FO, 8 CA):

Air Wisconsin - $62.90
SkyWest - $~62.50
Compass - $61.80
PSA - $59
Endeavor - $58
TSA - $57
ExpressJet - $57
Republic - $56
Mesa - $54

*based on similar airframes.

QOL, time on reserve, ability to make additional money (SAP, etc...), and other benefits are really the only difference between the majority of them (with maybe MESA and Republic as the exception).

Sorry, my obvious sarcasm button was broken.

Hell, I came here over a couple airlines not only for the contract but the 2.5 year upgrade... It took 6.5 years to upgrade.

Over the last 13+ years, have we not learned ANYTHING about setting expectations for career progression?

While I think most hope they would be able to move beyond a regional inside of 11 years and also hope they would upgrade inside of 3...I've heard enough wailing and gnashing of teeth from people that have had their expectations (some of which were reasonable, others not so reasonable) go unmet to know its not a smart play to make assumptions...

I'm not sure I get this highlighted statement? I am getting no calls and I know others in a similar situation getting no calls.

Sometimes you do have to know the right people. Most people I know who have been called have some insider track. That may change but without help from inside those calls are far fewer and much further between.

Although it is important to look at the past, it is also important to evaluate the current state of the industry now, and look to the future. When you choose a company, it is important to look forward and evaluate where the company will be in a few years. With the current environment, if you are a FO for 5 years, then you missed the wave and picked the wrong regional.

Having contacts on the inside is part of the game. Networking and having at least 10 letters of recommendation is just as important as the TPIC. I have seen many guys that do not have a degree and complaining that they can not get a call. There are lots of factors, and part of playing the game is covering all of the bases. Those contacts are HUGE.

No internal recommendations would constitute doing something wrong.

Per AWAC communications, the Delta flying is no more.
