AWAC to fly for DL???
#722
DL had to retract some of the narrowbody bid packs last month at mainline to cover some of the 50 seat flying that the regionals couldn't do. They got to this before the bid packs are issued, so you'll see that get swapped around over the next few days.

Between the CEO stepping down with no notice, the MX page indicating 9E aircraft, and the delta page still indicating Phl-cvg flights something is fishy ...not in a good way.
all these emails from the company indicate they want to be in business in the future but no actions indicate that they do.

This is just another classic example of "bait n switch". Delta put out a RFB for 50 seaters from Endeavor promising long term contracts and growth. AWAC desperate because of the looming end to their contract with USAir/American took the bait but didn't read the small print, the part about Deltas strict performance penalties and endless loopholes allowing them to terminate the contract at will. AWAC recognized the trap and pulled out of the deal, good for them. Now it will be interesting to see Deltas next move.
I would guess before the end of 2014 management at AWAC will come crying to the pilots begging for concessions with promises of growth, just remember "bait n switch"!

Very sorry to hear this guys. I'm a OO pilot, but have friends from Air Whiskey and have ALWAYS been impressed by your pilot group. I was really happy to hear flying being awarded to a high quality carrier for once. This is definitely a huge bummer.

If you have another opportunity, take it. The risk here is high, the reward is low. Our senior leadership team has come up short time and time again. This deal was blown and it was a bird in hand. With a financially stable partner. Which in turn would have given this pilot group an additional six years of job security.
Not to mention the fact that ZW sits in front of an arbitrator every other month and tells him that this pilot group is too expensive to obtain additional flying. They secured this, but their greed at the other end of the spectrum more than likely cost us six years of job security.
I don't post on here, but in order to save someone from making a huge career mistake I created an account. Best of luck to you. You won't know if you made the right choice until you retire. Unless you come to AWAC, then you'll know you made the wrong decision when you're sitting in the basement of the ATW airport about an hour into indoc when our new temporary CEO who is responsible for shutting down two airlines in her career comes by and lies to your face about how you just joined the best company in the industry.... Plenty of places out there that have positive things happening.
Things could change tomorrow, but you have to make the best decision for your situation based on the available information. Good luck my friend, and congrats on your class date. I hope whatever you decide works out for you.
