I just want to know where fodhopper and all the other company cheerleaders are? It's Midwest all over again and it is the same old story at AWAC. I have, literally, never heard good news in 8.5 years here. I don't know what the facts are behind the scenes, nor does anyone else. But it really doesn't matter. This was so poorly managed it's obscene. This rumor was out there for months without a comment from our company. Finally, on November 20, they tell us basically a deal is in place. Within 10 days that deal is no longer valid? C'mon playa...

Because getting flying would keep people? What is wrong with pilots these days?!? Rule #1, don't work for a sub contractor. I'm continually amazed at how lazy the mid level and senior guys become at places like Eagle, ASA, SkyWest, etc.

What a stupid thing to say. Working for a sub contractor is one of the very few ways to enter this industry. Also, getting a call from a legacy isnt as easy as snapping your fingers. There are many many mid level and senior guys who are trying desperately with no luck to get out.

That may be the case at some places, but I understand the guys who've decided to stay here. When you've been making 90-100k and have 5 weeks of vacation, it's tough to give that up.

Getting your PIC and getting out isn't so easy. Age 65 went into effect more or less about the time I upgraded. There was almost no hiring during those 5 years. Just a trickle here and there. Then a lot of folks suddenly are sitting on an extra 4000 PIC and are considered overqualified and untrainable.
I've heard from pretty reliable sources that 5000+ Part 121 PIC is a huge downer for most carriers. A lot of folks I know getting hired have between 500-1500 PIC and a few have more as Check Airmen, but the average, experienced line captains are NOT getting called. Ask me how I know this.

Wow...people ***** and moan when the rumors are flying because the company is silent. Then the company confirms the rumor and clearly states that the deal is not yet inked but we're gonna do you a solid and let you know what's going on. The deal falls apart and we ***** and moan because they told us before the deal was made. Then people wonder why the company is silent on pending deals?

Part of me is optimistic that they do want this place to succeed, and that they were the ones who walked away from this deal. I don't want them to be forced into some deal that Delta can turn around in a couple of years and rip the planes out from under us. The email also said "We look forward to sharing details with you on the extension of our flying with American Airlines as they unfold," so maybe there's something there. I'm not overly concerned with the 2015 date.
