Default More 170's for Delta to be operated by RAH

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

(RJET) announced today that it has reached an amendment to its Capacity Purchase Agreement (“CPA”) with Delta Air Lines to operate nine additional 69-seat E170 aircraft. The aircraft are scheduled to be placed into service between the 3rdquarter of 2015 and the 2nd quarter of 2016 and will operate for a term of six years per aircraft. In addition, the Company and Delta have agreed to extend the term of the agreement for the existing 14 E170 aircraft by four years, or through October 2021, and the existing 16 E175 aircraft by approximately five years, or through February 2024.
The nine additional E170 aircraft will either be sourced internally by the Company or with used aircraft available in the open market.
“We are proud to grow our partnership with Delta,” said Bryan Bedford, Chairman and CEO of Republic. “By growing our Delta E-Jet fleet and extending all of our aircraft into the next decade, we have cemented our long-term commitment to provide a safe, clean and reliable E-Jet operation as a Delta Connection partner.”

Hopefully just a stop gap short term emergency lift bridge. Funding a future 100+ seater operation that will use your money against you in just a few short years is bad business long term. They need any and all lift now though.

I wouldn't call extending contracts until 2024 an emergency stop gap measure!

I'd be more concerned that Endeavor wasn't going to take delivery of all 81 CRJ900's and these 9 came from that scope limited quantity of 81 aircraft.

70 seaters are less bad than 90 seaters with 76 seats in them though. This is interesting for sure, but way too small to base any assumptions on. Its not enough to carry RAH/BB's future failed excursion into the real world of airlines either. Not even close. Still bad business though.

I'm not sure what that means. Which "Company" is that statement referring to; RAH or Delta? In other words, is RAH going to pull 170's from its AA/US or UAL feed or is Delta gonna pull 170's from another Delta Connection carrier?

RAH will source the aircraft. They will come from our UA/US operation or they will be used from the open market.

Didn't a hub have to close and flying rejected due to a pilot shortage?
