We have an FO who was a CA at COPA. he commuted from Florida. The QOL was so much better here that it was worth it for him, even on first year ASA FO pay. By year 2 pay there wasn't even a question, and he is hispanic and was a Captain. Not to say it wouldn't or couldn't work out, but it probably won't be easy. Panama does not have to adhere to 117, so COPA still does 8 hour international overnights. Be careful.

True, you're working overseas, but COPA certainly does not pay anywhere close to "expat salary".

Does Copa still do the lie detector test during interview?

In the past, it wasn't a requirement for US citizens, but according to pprune and other sites, they now require it for all applicants.

Not sure how accurate the above info is, and I'm sure there are lots of things that have changed/constantly change.

What is it with airlines using more and more pseudoscience and otherwise debunked new age hiring practices?

You ever been there? The place is awesome, and full of expat Americans.

If I was in my early 20's and this was an opportunity right now, I'd take it in a second. Especially over flying for a regional.

A pilot there told me upgrade was 10 years... I don't know if that's hyperbole or not.

For an expat FO 10 years is realistic. Go as a CA or don't got at all.

Some airlines wants 500 on type (doesn't say PIC) with 1000 jet time (ex Korean air). Was thinking was trying Copa for 1-2 years to suffer then try Korean air. Or doesn't it sound too simple to be realistic?
