Easiest (least crappy) of the 8 different places I've commuted to.

EVERYTHING is relative of course.

Is this a temporary thing? Just curious why you would commute, especially to an expensive place like LAX, when there are regionals with DEN domiciles hiring.

Maybe he doesn't want to start over? The reason you commute is so you don't have to relocate, so the expensive place like LAX is irrelevant.

Well, while are you regional pilot internet judgmental experts are questioning the guy's life decisions, a simple search found this;

I've been there, I've done that. As in, been through MULTIPLE base closures in short periods of times. So it's just easier (less crappy) to call ONE PLACE home vs. picking up your crap, or whatever else. Even though there may be a financial burden involved, etc.

Also, LAX may not be the cheapest place to crashpad, it's not like other domiciles (NYE for example) are getting ANY CHEAPER, nor was ORD.

Also, there's enough cheap hotels that are comparable to OTHER places that can be had if it's a 2-3 night a month situation.

If the guy is a 3 year FO, then I would highly suggest a regional hiring CAs with a DEN base.

We're not questioning his life decisions, but just trying to get a better idea of this individual's circumstances. He wasn't very specific as to why he was having to commute and I was trying to wrap my head around the situation. Did one of the regionals close their DEN base? Is this a lateral move or a first 121 gig? I was just mostly curious as to the situation here.

EXACTLY, which made it even FUNNIER that people were starting to judge/criticize/second guess him.

As well as start making ASSumptions.

We just simply DON'T know. Which circles me back around to simply telling the guy based on the info he DID GIVE; It's an easy (less crappy) commute than the OTHER 7 places I commuted to from DEN in my time there.
