We was talking about a case where MEL was not an option (so no revenue flying) but a ferry permit might be obtained...for a condition which is not MEL-able or for which the actual scope of damage is unknown pending a thorough technical evaluation.

Because you're an expert in quantum physics...
Are you really throwing the term cyberbullying around? That's mature. "They don't agree with me therefore they are BULLYING me." Real mature.
I'm sorry that a dissenting opinion of what leadership and a Captain's responsibility is makes you feel victimized. I'm not bullying you. I'm clearly stating that most regional Captains are far more interested in "doing things my way because I'm in charge" or staring out the window types than actually mentoring or having any sort of meaningful interaction at all. Just so you don't closed-mindedly put me in one of your boxes, I've never once brought up my "upgrade" with a Captain. I don't talk about it at all. Nor do I tell him how great of a pilot I am. I sit quietly and share my opinions when asked and tells stories when inquired. I will say this though. I can count on my hands the number of times a Captain has consulted me when making a decision in a non-time critical moment. On the other hand, I have sat and listened quietly countless times while guys have stood on their soap box and pontificated about how great they are and how hard it is to be a Captain while simultaneously trying to blow an altitude restriction.

Once again, read, understand, type. You are one of the snarkiest, posters here. This statement illustrates that you do not understand leadership, nor the captain position. If you want to understand leadership read "About Face" by Lt Col David Hackworth, 1000+ pages about one of America's greatest warriors of all time. Being the Captain isn't really that hard if you understand the position. Whats hard, are the things that aren't in the book.
Also, "read, understand, type" doesn't mean anything the way you're using it.

I'm good. I have read more than my share of leadership books and have far greater breadth of leadership experience than most Captains in the regional airlines. You can lecture me about leading troops when you've actually lead troops.
Also, "read, understand, type" doesn't mean anything the way you're using it.

I'm not claiming to be a superior to any Captain. I'm saying if a Captain was truly concerned with an FO upgrading in a year or two, then perhaps he should do a better job of mentoring said FO. No entitlement here.
