After the blue water is drained from the tank, a little bit is left over. This little bit rolls directly over the portal where potable water is refilled once the airplane picks up speed. Not sure if I'm explaining that well but visualize leftover blue water rolling back of the potable water nozzles as the airplane moves through the air.

Starbucks or nothing.

The other day in SFO I saw something truly horrifying. Something had clearly malfunctioned with the lav cart. There was a giant pile of ****** all underneath the -700's lav service panel. Just everywhere. I almost stepped in it.

I'm sure glad I don't have that job...

I don't drink the coffee because the water just simply tastes terrible boiling hot or not.

After traveling through third world countries somehow the water on the planes doesn't scare me as much as it should. As long as it always comes out HOT HOT HOT I don't care so much what's in the tank. In China the only safety you get is in boiling the water. Throw a tea bag in and don't worry about it.

That said...do I trust the tanks are clean? No.

Is there a difference between the coffee that the Pax get and the one for the Crew? I had couple of coffees last time i flew on an US A321 and it didnt taste too bad.

I'm with you to a degree. Though somehow street food and other 3rd world things don't scare me as much airplane coffee. Although the cleanliness of the local Starbucks could be just as bad I guess. I've just seen to many MELs for failed contamination tests to be thirsty for it. But I'll chow down on some empanadas in El Salvador full of mystery meat. Go figure.

The water in the planes tanks thing isn't a myth. It can truly get nasty in there.

I just buy coffee.

However I always thought about carrying around a little French press and some of my own coffee. Just get some hot water outside the plane and make your own.

I'm a starbucks snob, caribou works when needed as well. In a pinch, i'll drink the airplane coffee. What doesn't kill ya, makes ya stronger.... At least that's what I tell myself. I do find it a bit funny that DL switched from Seattle's Best to Starbucks... When Starbucks owns Seattle's best. Marketing is everything.

Seriously? Out of all the things that will actually kill you on this job people worry about the dam coffee? Let me guess, you people wash your hands after going number 1 as well? All these dam diseases because people won't let their immune system do the job. Best way to build your immune system let things in. Otherwise when you do get sick your JV high school immune system is battling MJ's championship Bulls team. Never wash your hands and always drink airplane coffee!

Having said that, starbucks all the way. No thanks on the crap filled sewage water flavored with brown powder.

Before the shutdown, Comair had a F/A who got food poisoning while commuting from STL to CVG on a CRJ 900 and it was a Comair plane. He filed a workers comp claim because he was on his way to work. The company fought it but he prevailed. He had some "airplane" coffee on the flight. He's convinced it was the coffee. That just reinforced my practice of not drinking airplane coffee.
