Quote: Commair, gone. Colgan, gone. ExpressJet, dying. I'm not sure on this one, but I also think skywest parked some 50 seaters, and republic has parked airplanes they can't staff and has asked for relief. Airlines are cancelling flights for lack of crews. We cover endeavor flying a lot supposedly. Pilot contracts starting to improve due to supply and demand. These things take time to happen. In my opinion, there will be more consolidation, and reduction of aircraft at the regionals then th as already happen. IE 717s at Delta
Pilot contracts improving? Hardly! Wow you get a hotel room once and a while for commuting in to the base we closed? Retention bonus? Too bad its from the money they saved all while paying you well below what you deserve.
Pay rates? Hmmm what's the f/o pay again? Still dismal compared to eveyother country. Oh maybe they are offering 200%? That's nice but I enjoy my days off and prefer not to work or get junior manned on my down time.

Name one regional that has GREATLY improved their contract....I'll wait.

The regionals are dying and shrinking. You can ignore that all you want.

They are struggling to find pilots to replace the ones that are leaving. They will shrink more drastically as the mainline hiring picks up further.

The only regional Delta owns, upped all of its pilots' pay $20,000/year, making 1st year pay $45,000/year. Delta appears to want their other regionals to shrink since they have not agreed to pay those regionals more money to compensate their pilots what is needed to staff the airlines appropriately. It looks like Delta's plan is to let the regionals shrink further and just replace the lift at mainline.

This statement is false. Endeavor currently the only DCI being asked to cover more flying due to Shuttle and Compass staffing.

So all that 200 flying Expressjet did out of Detroit over the past year that came out of nowhere was just extra sections added by Mama D?

Everyone at Endeavor is making at least $20,000/year more than they were last year with 1st year pilots making at least $45,000/year. I don't think they will be having any issues staffing now.

Latest on the line here is that there is marginal at best difference between attrition and attraction. It appears that the prospect of quick upgrade at PSA is far better than any retention bonus.

The attrition isn't just talk, it's fact. I think last month there were about as many new hires as there were pilots leaving. The difference is that earlier this year much of the attrition was FO's leaving for upgrade opportunities. Now most of the attrition is CA or FO's leaving to legacies of LCC's.

I don't think we can keep up the pace of 30 new hires a month for very long. Attrition the second half of the year will increase and more people will be going to DL, UA, and LCC's. The $20,000, while a step in the right direction, is just a short therm fix.

The FO's that left last year are just now getting around to checking out as CA's at PSA. PSA got an influx of pilots due to the quick upgrade. I think that ship has now sailed.

Only time will tell though.

No - Delta withdrew 200 flying from 9E so they could ramp up the 900 operation. DL moved EV into DTW to fill the void of the lift lost.

So you say the "regionals" are struggling to find pilots...yet in the next post you say endeavor is having no problems with staffing... Which one is it?

When I click on the link the video shows up on YouTube as private. Is anyone else having this problem?
