I'm with the OP on this. It really is ridiculous. I think the same thing: 'who the heck is sitting next to this douche bag'?

Whatever you think, champ.
If they want to catch you, they will. And if this crap keeps going on, some guys will get in some ****.
I guess it will all work out in the long run. Some guys will lose their shot at a good career over this BS. I find it real tough to dredge up any sympathy.

I think people who play on guard are complete morons. That being said, when I'm bored stiff I might turn up #2 and get a chuckle from the antics. I'm sure I'm part of the problem, just being honest!

Take off your tinfoil hat. The FAA doesn't have the manpower or resources to go after Guard rats. You can stand up there and threaten all you want, but mark my words. They will NEVER pull a CVR from an aircraft. The company wouldn't let them (there's no requirement to comply), and by the time they narrowed down every airplane in a sector, the CVR data would be long overwritten.
Again, I think it's unprofessional but that doesn't mean anything will ever happen to anyone.
Oh, and it's written in federal law. An aviation lawyer would have your certificate action thrown out so fast the inspector's head would spin.
I really am sorry you're not smart enough to understand that.

Tell that the homie in prison for 14 for playing laser pointer games.
Man gets 14 years for pointing laser at helicopter
This crap is stupid. And it ranks right up there with laser pointer idiots. The FAA can and will make an example. Anyone who is stupid enough to sign up to become the example has no sympathy from me. It is actually a safety thing. Like I mentioned before, I heard a controller trying to talk a private pilot out of trouble on top of an overcast when the guard clown car stopped in. Not funny at all.
Plus, this will wind up in the media one day. Pilots already have enough image issues without these ****ing idiots making it worse.
I ain't looking for a new job. I'm just saying that I know a heck of a lot of people are. What a stupid way to rule oneself out from any chance at one.

"In the event of an accident or occurrence requiring immediate notification to the National Transportation Safety Board underpart 830 of its regulations that results in the termination of the flight, any operator who has installed approved flight recorders and approved cockpit voice recorders shall keep the recorded information for at least 60 days or, if requested by the Administrator or the Board, for a longer period. Information obtained from the record is used to assist in determining the cause of accidents or occurrences in connection with the investigation under part 830. The Administrator does not use the cockpit voice recorder record in any civil penalty or certificate action."
I know those FARs are hard to read and understand.

Dude,
You're rant is not without merit, but you do yourself no favors when you can't admit you got it wrong. Your CVR theory doesn't hold any water. Coming here to ***** won't do anything other than provide an outlet for your frustrations. Just ignore it when you hear it. If you correct it, then even though you are doing a good thing, you aren't in practical terms any better than the guys that are perpetrating the buffoonery in the first place; you're still blocking the frequency. Just turn it down for a few minutes next time...it will be better for your sanity.
