I'm sure the bean counters have figured out exactly what pay is required to attract the staffing they need if they really wanted to.

The same "bean counters" who engineered the problem in the first place?

Not quite... The guy is one of the most humble and stand up individuals I have ever met. He worked very hard to expand himself within the airline profession right of the bat. Add in some good networking and a little bit of luck, now he gets to look forward to being number 1 at United for probably 7-10 years of his career.

But how could a 24 year old civilian pilot possibly be qualified to fly for a major When thousands of other pilots with much better resumes are told they don't have the experience. I am sure his passengers will feel very comfortable knowing their pilot got the job because he was in with the head of HR.

It's probably LGApilot from the Who's Been Hired thread in the majors section.

Unfortunately, it's not the experience or age that counts. It's who you know.

Pretty close estimates. There were 836 total pilots hired at UAL last year and 148 of them from xjt (over 50 from the CRJ side).

685 left xjt from the ERJ side and 312 from the CRJ side.

He's actually extremely disliked because of how he networks and brown noses to get to where he is. Humble is far from the correct adjective to use. But that's what it seems must be done these days if you're okay with selling your soul. Now you have to go to job fairs and spend a good amount of money to shake someone's hand. And you aren't even guaranteed an interview. Ask your friends in other fields how they'd feel spending $500 to talk to someone that may still not interview you...

United had an internship program that had a few in almost each class. It was a very competitive program and from what I heard they were sharp guys/gals and they were hired at lower times.

Look at how United hired woman and minorities also with much lower minimums. Is it right? Depends on who you ask.

Why do the numbers on the chart add up to more than 100%?
